"Do you run a lot?"
"Wh-why do you ask that?"
"This is your fifth pair of shoes this week."
"S-so?"
"It's Monday."

WHILE LOOKING OVER HIS SHOULDER, Hartley Rathaway quickly jogged up to the front door of his older sister's house. The black hat matched with the dark trench coat covering his entire body gave the perception that he really didn't want to be seen, which was true. Actually, that's exactly what Hartley was trying to achieve after escaping from the clutches of Cisco Ramon and the meta-human prison at the S.T.A.R. Labs ruins. That small, let's say, visit was what prompted the need to see his sister so urgently and the cause for the late night phone call the evening/morning before.
Before Hartley could even knock or ring the bell, his sister opened the door and pulled her little brother inside, closing the door shut and locking both the handle and the deadbolt.
"Why on earth did you not tell me you were planning to go after Dr. Wells?" Lucy started yelling at him, "I had to find out from the news coverage painting you as the 'Pied Piper' villain and then you disappeared! I assumed I would get a call from the police station about your bail or an angry call from our parents about you being in jail, but no one knew where you went! You promised me that we would go after Dr. Wells with some proof and assurance that you would not be killed."
Lucy was the first person Hartley confided in after being fired from S.T.A.R Labs for threatening to expose the particle accelerator. Hartley was also the only person to learn about Lucy and Genevieve's brand new powers. He actually helped Lucy find and adopt Penny, Aspen, and Peter who all tried their best to conceal their powers at the time.
The siblings had schemed to expose the particle accelerator and how it gave people powers, but Hartley was set on bringing down Dr. Wells even further.
"I know, I know..." Hartley responded (it wasn't like it was the first time he was being chastised by his older sister), "I'm sorry."
Lucy scoffed, "Sorry doesn't cut it when my kids saw 'Uncle Hartley' get arrested on the evening news. Where did you even go?"
"That's what I wanted to talk to you about! They took me to S.T.A.R Labs in this meta-human prison. They have cells that dampen all metas powers. They made them out of the old ring the particle accelerator used and -"
"Wait, what?" Lucy interrupted, wide-eyed by the news of a meta-human prison.
Hartley shook off his sister's confusion, "Where are the kids?" He asked. The hallway seemed too quiet and it was the weekend, so it didn't make sense for them to be at school.
Lucy walked over to the window and looked out through the closed curtains, "I sent them to the park today. I didn't know when you were planning on dropping by and wanted to have a private conversation which is almost impossible in this house. They know you're stopping by, Aspen wants you to stay for dinner tonight and Penelope asked if you could proof-read her science essay."
