A gust of wind brought chills to the young teen as he sped across Paris looking for his beloved. Tired and weak, Adrien decided best to stop and rest.
His transformation let go just as a familiar figure rested a hand on his shoulder.
"Adrien?" Said the voice.
"Oh! Sorry Kagami, you startled me. What are you doing around here?"
"First, my dearest apologies. I did not mean to startle you. And second, I should be asking you the same. Why are you out here?" The young girl questioned, folding her arms.
Adrien looked down at his shoes, not daring to meet the gaze of the girl before him. "I...am looking for a friend."
"The one on TV?"
"Yes. I'm the one who caused this."
"What? Tell me everything."
"Marinette...one of my closest friends. She confessed to me. I, however, told her that I couldn't reciprocate her feelings. Then I ran away. Leaving her there all alone."
"Oh..." Kagami brought a hand to her mouth.
"I regret it so much. But of course, the rest of the school didn't believe me. I was the outcast. Yet." He paused looking fondly at the sky.
"Marinette didn't shut me out. She did everything in her power to fix the mess I created. Our friends tried to keep us apart and I think that's what started to break her. With everything going on, her strength was weakened. Hawkmoth saw this and turned her to his side."
"She's still under the control of Hawkmoth I presume?"
"No. She, broke free. I've been searching for her. But she's nowhere to be found."As the two continued to chat, two figures watched with intensity. Soon one began to shake with pain in her eyes.
Lady Misfortune P.O.V~
So it was true.
Adrien wasn't interested in Lila or Chloe but this other girl, named Kagami.
Of course right after things seem to be going well, it burns up in seconds.END OF P.O.V~
Misfortune's eyes widened as she saw Kagami kiss, Adrien, on the cheek. Her transformation flickered like a glitch on a computer screen.
She couldn't go back. Not now not ever. Hot fresh tears streamed down the villain's cheeks as she watched the two sit together on a bench. How could she have missed this? Why was this happening to her?"I'm so sorry dear."
Misfortune's lips curved into a half-smile."It's alright. I expected this. To him, I'm just a maiden in the background."
"Oh, dear. You are anything but that." Emile comforted as she cradled Misfortune in her arms.
Misfortune had never been so relieved to not be alone, to be held as she cried. The girl must have fallen asleep because the next thing she knew, she was in a bed with warm covers and large soft pillows."Good. You're awake." Said a voice.
"H-how long?" Misfortune muttered.
"Maybe a few hours. Not much though." Said Emile as she placed another log on the fire.
"Where are we?"
"Oh well. Since I moved back to Paris I bought a new home and chose a new name. Emma Peacock."
"Wait. When did you arrive back in Paris?"
"Maybe 6 or 7 months ago. I had everything else worked out a month before. It just depended on when."Misfortune tried to sit up but her lack of sleep and weak muscles prevented her from getting higher than a few inches before she tumbled back into the mattress.
"I'll have some soup made in the kitchen. Meanwhile, try and let your body rest, it's been through a lot."
"Right. Yes. And thank you."
"No problem." Once the door was closed, Misfortune tried once more to stand and managed to climb down from the large queen-sized bed. Despite wanting nothing more than to just curl up and forget her worries. Misfortune decided to move closer to the fire, but as she stood there the heat was proving, however, to become intolerable.
But even with the heat of the flames, Misfortune couldn't stop looking at it. She loved how the flames seemed to be dancing, each step more graceful than the last.A few moments later the door opened once more and there stood Emilie with a bowl of soup. She giggled a bit at the sight in front of her but knew the heat would not help the young girl.
"Now then. I know the flames can be entertaining but the heat isn't good for your body. Why don't you climb back under your covers? I have some soup for you. I wanted to make it myself but the cooks insisted."
"Alright. I guess the heat is becoming a bit unbearable."Once back under the covers, Misfortune was handed the soup. As she began to drink it, Emile took a seat near the end of the bed. Her eyes a bit foggy as they cascaded down with a look of worry.
"Honey, have you had close contact with my son?"
Misfortune placed the bowl down, as her eyes became glassy.
"...Yes...I have. We were good friends."
"Were?"
"Yes. I held strong affections toward your son. But he turned out to love another girl. Like you saw earlier. We drifted apart due to my stupidity."
Emilie shook her head; "It was better to have told him. There is no reason to love someone if that affection you hold is instead torturing you."
"You're right."
"Now dry those tears." Emile stood from the bed giving a wide grin. "Once you have fully rested, we will go and stop my husband. Get him to reverse this." She gestured toward Misfortune's dark costume. "And then help you restore the city...ladybug."
Misfortune's eye's popped out of their sockets, gripping tightly to the beautiful silk sheets.
"Sleep well! I'll be back soon!"
Once she left, Misfortune fell back into the mattress with a loud thump....
