"Thank you so much, enjoy the rest of your day!" Monica replied the woman on the other end in a chirpy tone and heaved a sigh of relief, dropping the receiver with a blinding beam resting on her face.

Now everything had been well sorted out and she could relax for a bit. She'd just rescheduled a phone call she was supposed to have with

Nowadays, Sucre would often stay on the phone for at least thirty minutes and then keep telling her that whatever appointment he had at the time he was on the call should be held back till he was done with his call. She couldn't help but wonder who he was talking to that usually occupied his time. Could it be that Nancy Daemon lady?

The green eyed monster lurked evilly as her heart burned. Days ago, they'd been fighting a sexual battle on the ground in his office and Monica had been reminded of the good old days they'd spent together. Who knew it wouldn't last anyway?

He already had another woman's elbow linked with his just minutes after their sexual encounter, which had obviously meant nothing to him. Heaving a deviant sigh, Monica swore she wouldn't think about him again. She was well aware than anyone else that she couldn't help it, but so help her God, she wouldn't stop trying to get rid of the thoughts that they could ever be together again. It was over between them.

"Monica?"

Monica looked up, her lips parting in surprise because she hadn't been expecting anyone. And also, she wasn't supposed to be daydreaming at her desk but she should've been working. Or at least pretending to.

She dropped the nail file in her left hand on the table and quickly sat up. A confused smile stretched on her lips as she assessed the older woman.

"Nana? My, what a surprise. What are you doing here?" She went around her table and gave Mrs. Ambrosia a hug.

"I was passing by and said I should stop for a chat." Nana smiled kindly at Monica, patting the younger lady's back.

"Oh Nana, that's very too kind of you. Unfortunately, you just missed Sucre so..." She frowned, guessing Nana had come to see Sucre. Because, why else would she be at his office at ten AM on a Thursday morning if it wasn't to see Sucre?

"Oh, shush. I didn't come here for Sucre, I came here for you. Walter?!"

The neatly dressed man whom Monica guessed was Nana's bodyguard came forward. "Yes ma'am."

"You'll do as told earlier, and make an efficient job. You do need that promotion already."

His blue eyes were sharp as he nodded. "I won't disappoint."

"Let's have a short walk honey, pack your things. You might not return to the office today." Nana ordered with a calm smile.

"But Nana, the office and Suc-"

"Do you think I don't know what that boy is playing at? I refuse to see the mother of my great grandchild suffer longing while my son does as he pleases." She retorted with sharp eyes.

Does that mean she knew everything that had been happening these past few days? Did Nana send someone to watch Sucre's movements?

"How do yo-"

"I have my ways, my dear. If it wasn't for love, I would will everything in my care to Stephanie. I have watched you these past few years and wonder...why do you still wait for him?" Nana looked genuinely confused while looking at Monica with nothing but clear adoration in her eyes.

Monica heaved a sigh and rested on my desk table. "It's not like that Nana. I just haven't met the right person yet."

Nana smiled. "That is because you are deeply in love with my stupid grandson. I see it in your eyes; you would do anything for him despite the battle in your mind. He loves you too, but you know what?"

Monica's eyes widened at her confession and she began to silently ask herself questions.

He loves me too? Could this be true? Then if Sucre loved me, why couldn't he just tell me? Why did he have another family asides me and Stephanie?

"What Nana?" She heaved a sigh when she saw the mischief in Nana's eyes.

"Sucre is stupid. No amount of stupidity compares to that of my grandson." Nana stated in an utmost sincere tone. Monica couldn't help but laugh at that one, and it was refreshing.

"So now we will go somewhere important, don't ask too much questions."

"Okay Nana." She picked her bag and explained some things to Walter even though he seemed to have gotten into the role pretty quickly. They took the elevator back down and she ignored the questioning and curious glances thrown their way while they made our way out.

When Sucre became the CEO, he had cleared their floor so he and Monica were the only ones working there. The front desk receptionist had also been transferred to the floor below and that was why visitors would have to meet with Monica before they could see Sucre.

Sucre would never allow any other worker on their floor.

Monica thought about it now. If she wasn't mistaken, he wasn't one to stay in places that were crowded. While growing up, he would often sit with her alone and because of him, she also didn't keep a large group of friends. So when he moved everyone below their floor and made all those rooms only for some monthly delegated meetings, Monica wasn't all that surprised. But other employees there could have viewed it in a different, more complicated way.

After all, she'd often heard rumors saying she was sleeping with the boss. Monica just didn't pay them any mind.

"You look just good for the shoot. I can't wait to introduce you to Sanders." Nana said proudly after some good minutes of silence in the car. Monica turned to face the elderly woman.

"Oh? Who is he and what shoot are you talking about?" Her forehead morphed into a contour as a confused expression slipped onto her face.

Nana looked appalled at the question and have Monica a look that said she was itching to smack her on the thigh. Monica had gotten that same treatment few years back when she was with Sucre, even though Nana's smack wasn't in the least painful. The elderly woman just usually did it to scold lightly. Monica was also used to it.

Regardless of the fact that they were now adults, she had smacked Sucre on the arm twice in Monica's presence so Monica knew Nana was itching to give her a smack.

"The online dating site, have you forgotten so soon? That boy has you in clouds of love for him. Snap out of it!" She sulked. Smiling softly, Monica reached out and held Nana's hand. Despite the fact that Nana appeared strict with the way she was handling this, Monica knew she wanted the best for her. She was always strict on those she loved, and Monica was no exception.

"It only skipped my mind, Nana but I had it in mind these past few days. I trust you."

"Well I'm glad to know that, because we are here already." Nana replied giddily and I looked out through the window up at the skyscraper.

"It's time to start a new chapter of my love story." Monica mumbled to herself and braced herself for the meeting ahead of her as she alighted the car with Nana walking before her. Could she take her heart with her and forget Sucre with all this?

No, she couldn't forget him. But Monica was slowly accepting the fact that Sucre, the man she had loved almost all her life and her childhood crush couldn't stay committed to her.

He made mistakes all those years. So, what made him any different now?
