Chapter 19: How Do I Know He's Okay?

Virgil's POV

Alright, I admit it.

I regret ¨Helping¨ Princey.

All he wanted me to do was watch him sword fight a dummy. And no, I mean a literal dummy, not Remus.

But,  what would the alternative be? 

I mean, I could go back and help Logan, but he probably doesn't want to see me right now, considering how I just bailed on him like that. 

I don't know why I reacted that way. I guess it was a mixture of worry, fear, sadness, and anger. But I didn't wanna be angry at him. I didn't have a real reason to be. But still, part of me was thinking, how dare he put me through that? Doesn't he know how much I-I mean we- care about him!?

¨Hello? Ground control to Major Virgil? Can you hear me, Major Virgil? Are you even paying attention to me?" Roman yelled.

¨Not really.¨ I admit. ¨I'm just.... Thinking.¨

¨About what?¨ 

¨Not your problem, Sir Sings-A-Lot!¨

¨Wow, defensive much.¨ 

¨I'm sorry. I just.. How do we know Logan's okay?! I mean, none of us have ever done anything like this before, who knows how this will affect Thomas!? Or Logan...¨

Roman looked as though he knew something I didn't. I decided not to press the matter, though I really wanted to. 

¨you seem stressed.¨ He said plainly.

¨Wow. Good job Roman. You figured it out!¨ I said with mock surprise.

¨You know what I like to do when I'm stressed?¨ He asked.

¨I'm scared I'm about to find out.¨

He handed me his sword. ¨Attack the dummy.¨

¨Why?¨

¨It'll help you break free of your thoughts.¨

It was so stupid.

So obviously, I did it.

But it didn't help me. Thoughts filled my head, even louder than before.

Logan hates you.

Princey's trying to make a fool of you.

Patton is mad at you.

Is Logan okay right now?
