Halftime

(Hey everyone. I was just lying in bed and was hit with a mood to give you guys something, so heres a little filler chapter. It wont be long but hopefully itll be nice.)

Ruby Pov

The first week of school passed by pretty quickly. Then again after the first day things had settled down a decent bit. The air between me and Y/n was a little awkward...but it wasnt uncomfortable. I think we both figured it out that night but...now isnt the time. The time will come though.

It was friday night, and late at that too, maybe midnight. The entire team was asleep with me being the exception. Nothing was wrong, I just couldnt fall asleep. I had a few things on my mind...mostly Y/n but that wasnt stopping me sleeping, I was just restless. I sat up in bed and saw that Y/n was awake too.

He was sitting cross-legged on the floor between the beds while gazing out the window, the moonlight shining in and illuminating him. I hopped down from my bed quietly to not wake the others, then again they were sleeping like rocks. I plopped myself down next to him taking him by slight surprise. He looked over at me and gave that smile of his.

Y/n: "Hey rosebud. Couldnt sleep either?" He asked in a slightly hushed tone. I returned his smile.

Ruby: "Yeah. Just couldnt manage to fall asleep." He quietly chuckled to himself.

Y/n: "Well that makes two of us. Care to join me then? I was just stargazing is all. I still cant get over this view of the moon."

He turned his head to gaze back out the window. I followed his gaze and watched with him. I had seen it all my life but whenever I found myself watching the sky with him, the moon always seemed to shine just that much brighter. He always made the view amazing. One thing I could never get over was the way he spoke sometimes. If you catch him in the right mood, he can say some pretty interesting things, a real philosopher of sorts. I remembered when he told me about the titan Atlas. He said that they weren't his words, but they were much better coming from him.

He once told me that the moon in his world wasnt broken, that it was complete. He would stargaze a lot, and would spend ages just looking at the moon and stars. He said that they looked like eyes to him, and whenever he saw the full moon shining its silver light, he always saw a second one in his mind, looking at him like a pair of eyes. It brought him comfort.

Y/n: "The earth's moon was beautiful, but this is something else. Even the stars here seem to shine brighter. Like...cosmic beacons...lighting the way." I giggled a bit at his description and leaned against him. He returned the gesture wrapping an arm around me and laying his head on top of mine.

These were the moments I wish never ended. Just us two, enjoying eachothers company. I got an idea though, and he seemed in a good mood, so I thought I'd give it a go.

Ruby: "Can you sing me a song? Maybe it'll help us get to sleep." He tended up a little bit in embarrassment but soon settled down, turning so we were sat facing eachother.

Y/n: "S-s-sure." He said. Yknow it's hard to imagine a shadow flustered and blushing, but here he was. It was adorable in my opinion.

He thought for a moment before he put on a smile and held his hands out. After a few moments he made a normal old acoustic guitar appear and prepared to play as he leaned his back against the bookshelf below the window. I thought I'd mess with him a bit so I turned myself to face away from him, then layed on my back so my head was resting in his lap and I was looking up at him. He was a flustered mess and I giggled at his embarrassment.

Ruby: "Dont mind me. Just getting comfortable."

3rd Person Pov

Y/n silently laughed to himself about Ruby's playful nature and focused on her as he began to play, strumming the guitar in his hands.

As he sang he kept his gaze on her the whole time. She found herself slightly rocking side to side to the rhythm of the song, sinking into the ocean of words and music, even lowly singing the chorus the second time around. Y/n was pouring himself into the song, bringing the lyrics to life with emotion and feeling, still holding her silver gaze as he sang.

The song was nearing its end as her eyes grew heavy, relaxing into him as she let his words carry her into sleep. When he did finished the song, he set the guitar against the bookshelf and looked down at her, the moonlight illuminating her features. To him, it was the most beautiful thing in any world.

He leaned down and brushed some of her stray short hair aside, planting a small kiss of her forehead, making her smile in her sleep. He smiled at the sight before him, before he rested his back against the bookshelf and closed his eyes, allowing himself to be carried into sleep, the pale moonlight shining majestically on the both of them.
