A tang of pain hit Alex's cheek, the small culprit who he cared for was about to cry. "Why won't you just believe me?" she whispered, stepping back a bit. "We only knew her for a few months, we've known each other for as long as I can remember. Yet you still believe her over me." She started to get louder but still kept a hushed tone of voice as to not wake their friends. "I get she reminds you of Mavis but this is going too far." With the mention of his sister, Alex lost it. He dragged Alina a bit away so he could be louder, "I'm going too far? Alina listen to yourself!" he yelled, pinning his small friend against a tree. "Why would she join the empire? It doesn't make any sense!" He continued, tightening his grip. "She hated them as much as we did! It doesn't matter that she looks like Mavis." tears brimmed his eyes and his head hung low. "I love her Alina," He muttered, releasing his yellow dressed friend. "I wish you'd get that through your head." he continued, dropping to the ground. That sentence filled Alina with a hideous feeling that she'd never admitted was jealousy. After rubbing her wrists and calming herself, she went to her crushed friend. "I'll drop it." She said, engulfing him in an embrace and rubbing circles on his back. This was the first time in a while he'd let himself cry.
