To say the future was bleak was an understatement. She knew that better than anyone she knew, they were blinded by their temporary happiness to realise that the future was dark and grim. The girl would catch herself wishing to be even the slightest bit ignorant, but she knew she was better off with the knowledge she held. The world she and many others had called home for eons was now slowly being destroyed by those who lived in it. The sky was fading from it's once fantastic blue to an eerie grey, although it was happening slowly enough that hardly anyone noticed. Their oceans had also started to shift from their rich, deep blue to a murky green. When the girl asked others, she was looked at as if she were speaking a language they didn't understand, and those who did hear her hushed her, wanting to let others in ignorance filled bliss that they could no longer experience.

To say their situation was hopeless was an understatement.
