This wasn’t the perfect place, or perfect timing. I didn’t think she would be this early home. Her eyes grew bigger as she stared into Jason’s hazel eyes. She didn’t move, and nor did I say anything. Jason didn’t do anything either, he didn’t move a muscle, afraid of what my mother would do.

“Mother, I know this is really hard an-“.

“ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND?”. She was actually yelling, but no movements involved as she said it.

“I told you about this”, I replied staying as calm as I possibly could. She was shocked of finally seeing Jason.

“Bu-but Jessica, th-this is not what I thought about”, she replied, her voice calmer than before.

“Mother, please”, I begged her standing up. I walked towards her, but she put her hands up in defence.

“I need some time to think”.

“You already knew this, but you can’t look at him, is that it?”. I was getting angry as well. I felt it in my whole body. I was breathing heavier than before.

“He was your kidnapper, Jessica Olivia Treasure”, she said. By the way she said my whole name, it was deeply serious.

“I know that! But it’s not like he was the one actually kidnapping me. That was the other big guy, Fernando”. She shook her head, closing her eyes, breathing out slowly.

“I just can’t deal with this right now. I’m so sorry”. With that, she walked out of the room and upstairs into her own room. I turned around to look at Jason and I couldn’t read his face expression.

“Maybe I should leave now”, he whispered, but loud enough for me to hear it.

“No, please, just stay a while with me”, I said looking at him. He nodded his head slowly, spreading out his arms. I gladly sat down in the couch and close to him. He held me tightly as he kissed my forehead. I swear forehead kisses are the best one ever possible. “I would do anything to hold you this close to me forever”, I whispered, kissing his hand softly. We sat there quietly for a long time. It was peaceful, but all the minds about my mother catching us were anxious. I knew it was hard for her hearing about Jason, the boys, their criminal background, and my love towards Jason. She was supporting me about it, but it was hard for her to completely understand it. It wasn’t weird that she was freaked out about it.

I watched the bags my mother had lost when she came in the doors. Maybe I should put them in the fridge? I tugged Jason with me, and he understood it at once. We picked up the bags together and went straight to the kitchen with them. We took the groceries into the fridge without saying anything to each other. I guess we both were thinking way too much about what happened and thinking about what the future would bring. I knew the relationship with Jason would be hard and totally impossible. He was a criminal; I was a high school student; soon to be on a university. I maybe haven’t told anything about my future plans, but I had searched to Juilliard University which involved music. I played the cello, which maybe not that many people would know.
