Chapter Twenty Two

Dong Hua

My heart is calm as the dark night
My soul is at peace like the air
My breath is still as time and your embrace is warm as the sun,

And the power I hold inside my heart is made of your love

I looked at the sleeping beauty besides me and my heart flutters, how can one person be so beautiful and be so much more. I leaned in forward and kissed her eyes, kissed her noise and then kissed her lips lightly, she stirred and her eyes fluttered open. "Dijiun." Her voice sounded hoarse. "Did I wake you." She blinked a few times."Mm." She was pouting cutely. "I'm sorry." kissed her forehead." Don't lie you're not sorry." She laughed." You are so precious." She smiled with her eyes first before the smile touched her lips." I hope now you know, I would move heaven and earth for you." She brushed my left cheek with her knuckle."So would I XiaoBai." We stared at each other for the longest time either of us wanting to look away or move away from this moment but there was so much that needed to be done with the wedding being tomorrow and all. "XiaoBai we need to get ready." She whined making a cute animal sound." Dijiun why do I have to do this." She used her baby voice on me. "I have to introduce you to the world, and we have to go through the heavenly thunderbolts of fire, I don't want a bleeding bride on my wedding day besides I want to show of the woman who holds my heart." She was gaping at me."D...d...thu... thunderbolts again?" I laughed at her. "You're ascending to Heavenly Empress, so yes." Everything she's supposed to fear she has no fear  of but the mention of pain has her sweating. "I'll be with you, it won't hurt." Her baby eyes blinked at me." Dijiun how do you know, that it won't hurt?" Her faced crunched up. "Honey don't worry about it." I felt the butterfly effect happening in her stomach and she blushed. "XiaoBai, what's that?" She blushed even more."You felt it so why ask me." She snapped at me, XiaoBai has quite a temper and I love it." Oh right dijiun will you really feel everything I feel and hear everything I think?" I already didn't like where this was going." That depends on whether you want me to or not." She smirked evilly, just then someone knocked at the door. "Time to get ready." She sighed heavily, I opened the door the fairy maids bowed down. "Your Majesty we're here for the Empress." She put her arms around me and kissed the side of my face, making the fairy maids to blush. "Be good." She whispered then she untangled herself from and walked away with the fairies.

XiaoBai

As we were walking I smelt some peach wine and my mouth watered, the scent in the air was sweet and heaven was buzzing with people preparing for this banquet before the actual wedding. Not many people will be able to attend our wedding because I want it to be just family around us, as we were about to enter the imperial palace two fairies were talking amongst each other. "I bet she's pregnant otherwise why would your majesty marry her." The other agreed in a loud voice. "I heard that she's a Princess maybe they are trying to salvage her reputation." The fairies I was with their faces grew paler. "I can't wait to see how ugly she is, I'm even considering ruining her dress." I walked up to them. "What's going on here, why is heaven so busy?" They looked me up and down. "Your majesty is getting married to some snobby princess." One chirped. "Oh I heard something about that.....uh is it Bai Fengjiu from Qingqiu." They nodded their heads. "Have you seen her before?" My fairies looked pale and very nervous, I understand not many people know that it's actually me which is why this is so fun. "No! I'm sure she's not worthy of his majesty, I heard she was a real neusence." I wanted to laugh for so band. "You must be careful I heard that she has a very bad temper, since she will be the empress and hears something like this we may get in trouble." Then I walked away from them giggling, entering the imperial I see mother and father. "Xiaojiu your finally here." I bowed in front of them. "You are so early, why?" Mother and father looked uncomfortable. "There's not enough time, so tell me what's wrong." They cleared their voices then father spoke. "It's about Crown Prince Lei Huan." Immediately my mood darkened. "We know he did some horrible crime but his parents asked us to beg you, to not punish him so heavily his their only son." Anger I could feel it bubbling inside of me, then I remembered Dijiun will feel it and my anger triggers dangerous things. "He tried to kill his majesty, my husband and you want me to forgive him?" I asked calmly. "Xiaojiu look a the bright side is he didn't die." I was getting annoyed, annoyance was better than anger. "Xiaojiu if the situation was reversed what would you do?" Father asked. " The situation would never be in reverse because I would never hurt the person I love." Father was getting exasperated. "Xiaojiu we are asking you as parents, if not forgive him the don't make him a wandering ghosts." Mother pleaded. "You're asking as my parents but his my husband too, mother if someone were to try kill father would you forgive them?" I knew this conversation was over. "No I could never." I looked into their eyes lovingly. " I love you and respect you both, but don't ever make me choose between him or you because I will never put anyone above him not even you." Both my parents gasped and we went to get ready.  As I was bathing in the heavenly sweet water I got more nervous, I absolutely could not tolerate physical pain but as long as he was with me I would try, I got dressed in my light purple and white long silky  robe, a beautiful navy blue Pheonix embroidered robe was made for me but I wanted to match my husband, my hair was straightened out and adorned with a heavy golden crown. Dijiun knew that I hated things like this but he knew that for him I would wear anything and do anything, I was pampered until the very last moment when mother came to get me. "Are you ready to meet everyone." She asked softly. "I'm ready to see him." Her eyes widened and she chuckled."Oh how you have grown." She took my hand and we left the imperial palace heading towards, heavenly Lord's meeting hall. It was deadly silent when we arrived outside, heavenly lord emerged from the door. "Come, he's waiting for you." He took my hand and walked me inside. Shocked gasps and murmurs started but all I had to focus  on was on the person waiting for me in the middle of the room, heavenly lord handed me over to him." Many of you had wondered if I will ever get an empress or get married at all... I would have never considered it in a million years because this woman standing next to me wasn't born yet..... Only she could make my heart beat slower and faster and..." Then he went quite, he was caught off guard. When he was speaking I had thought about how I wanted his mouth on me and the look on his face was priceless. "XiaoBai!" He warned. "And she's the only one..." Again he cut off mid-sentence and his eyes looked down at me and pierced with a smoky warning stare. "That my heart could ever love, this is Bai Fengjiu the daughter of the fox Emperor and Empress of Qingqiu.. and now my...." He intertwined our hands together and he started squeezing the hell out of me. "Now she is my Empress and soon the Heavenly Queen." Everyone greeted and bowed but I was dreading the next step, it was time for the thunderbolts. He let go of my hand after squeezing it so much only for him to take it back gently this time, he led me outside to the gathering dark clouds, the wind got colder and I shivered. "XiaoBai look at me, it's alright." He coaxed me but I was already in my fear so he words didn't help, the clouds gathered some more creating one huge cloud and the first thunderbolts strike and it felt like my soul had been taken away from my soul but I didn't make a sound, I was impressed with myself that not even a single tear escaped my eyes. Dijiun brought me closer to him and hugged me. "Close your eyes XiaoBai." I complied and it hurt but it was bittersweet pain because I feeling this enormous pain but I was in his arms, what a blissful feeling but the I was too quick to judge the first thunderbolts strike as excruciating because the last one, stilled my heart I was even sweating. After several minutes I felt calm and I opened my eyes and my husband was staring at me with pride." Well done XiaoBai." We turned around to face the people and they all kneeled. "Congratulations Emperor Dong Hua dijiun, Empress Bai Fengjiu on your union." They all said in unison. "Rise." Dijiun said. "Please go enjoy the banquet my wife and I will join you shortly." He took my hand and let me out to the his palace, he set me down and peeled of my robe. "Our fate has been sealed,you're stuck with me forever." He said as he kissed my shoulder and the middle of back. "You're not hurt and that's a good sign, let's go to our guests so I can really peel this robe of you." I felt my mouth go dry instantly, he dressed me and we went to the lotus garden for the banquet.
