Chapter Twenty-three

KENNETH

All I want is to be alone. Isolated from everyone. Mind my own business. And I hate annoying people. That's the reason, why I choose to stay quiet and spend time sleeping in class or skipping class. And spend those times in the rooftop, away from those meddlesome, annoying and noisy people.

But, in just a matter of time, that had change. And I may have tolerate it, but I still can't get used to this rascals.

"I still think we should all go together. Come on, it's camp! Who wouldn't want to go to a camp with their friends?" Harold said munching in a piece of fried chicken.

"I know! That's what I've been talking about!" Alex exclaimed with much enthusiasm waving her spoon on the air.

"That ain't a problem with me." my sister answers deadpanned. "But someone has a lot of problem with that. Right?" and she threw a meaningful glance at me. "Kenneth Dela Riva?"

Tch. Pain in the ass.

Napaikot lang ako ng mata at naghalumbaba saka tumingin sa malayo. Narinig ko naman ang pagbuntong-hininga nilang lahat kaya napailing nalang ako.

What's the deal?

They've been talking about the upcoming school camp. All of them was so excited that they've been trying to lump me in with them. But, na-ah. Not gonna happen. I'd rather sleep the days away.

But no. These guys had been nagging me about coming along. Said its best to go with them, said it'll be fun with them. Quoted: The more, the merrier.

How fascinating.

Oh, mind the sarcasm.

"Hey, say something!" udyok ni Maddie na pinukpok pa ako ng kutsara niyang nakabalot ng tissue. "Are you coming or what? Make a choice."

I don't want to.

"Yes? Or no?" pakikisabay ni Mike sabay kuha ng pagkain sa baunan ko.

Nakasimangot naman akong sinipa siya dahil yung chicken nuggets pa ang pinakialaman. Alam naman na nilang ayaw ko may umaagaw nun eh!

"Kenneth, sumama ka na. Tama na pagmumukmok. Sayang naman." naiiling na sabi naman ni Gerald na nakaakbay sa kapatid ko. "Ikaw din, di ka makakahanap ng girlfriend niyan."

Am I even looking for one? To tell you, I haven't given it a thought.

But, whatever. That doesn't even matter.

"Don't worry, he'll be coming. He can't say no anyway." pagsagot ulit ni Kim na sinabayan ng ngisi at kindat. "Right, brother?"

Then why the heck are you even asking me anyway?

Matapos kumain ng lunch ay nagpahinga muna ang mga ito ng ilang minuto sa taas. At gaya ng dati, napakaingay talaga nila. Hindi ko tuloy magawang makatulog man lamang kahit sandali. Pano puro ba naman sigawan at tawanan.

Seriously, I have to deal with this rascals at the camp? For heaven's sake, I don't think I'll last an hour with them.

Nagtiis pa ako ng mga sampung minuto bago sila magsipagtigil at nag-ayos ng mga sarili. Kanya-kanya din silang dampot ng mga bag saka nagpaalam na bababa na. Malapit na din kasi magsimula ang klase panghapon.
