Chapter 24 | first love
“Yanan!” Seungyeon exclaimed, attacking him with a hug. She was wearing a pink baseball cap over her head to avoid too much attention from the public. He went back to Seoul after breakfast with his grandma and it's now lunch when he met up with Kele and Seungyeon at Jib Bap's, Seunghee's family restaurant. “What the heck, you're rocking the blond hair.” She said as she pulled away, grinning.
Seungyeon lost a lot of weight, he thought. Even though he often saw her through video calls and watched her videos on Youtube, he was still bewildered by how gorgeously she'd grown.
“You really look like a celebrity now.” He said, giving her two thumbs up.
She snorted, smiling. “Do you want my autograph?”
“Can I sell them?”
“Yah!”
They laughed and sat in the corner spot of the restaurant. Seunghee sat with them even though she was holding an empty tray and she had the restaurant's apron on. “He grew so much taller, right?” She said to Seungyeon.
The latter narrowed her eyes. “Yeah, when I hugged him, I really had to stand on the tippest of my toes.” She replied.
“That's not a word. Tippest.” Yanan said.
Seunghee took their orders and sat with them as they began catching up. Apparently, Seungyeon barely hang out with them anymore due to her busy schedules as an idol.
“But how are you doing? Are you sure you're okay? You don't even miss Changgu anymore?” He asked.
Kele hit his shoulder. “Yah!”
Seungyeon smiled. “It's okay. For how long are you guys going to avoid talking about Changgu just because of me?”
“Forever, probably.” Seunghee replied.
“I'm okay...” Seungyeon said, but immediately trailing off as if lost in her own thoughts.
“Are you sure? Do I have to punch Changgu for you?” Yanan asked only half joking.
“Are you crazy? I'm the one who broke up with him...” Seungyeon looked down at her food, avoiding everyone's eyes. “And you wouldn't do that. Also, he doesn't deserve it.”
“You have a point.” Yanan whispered down at his own food, remembering once again how complicated relationships are.
“Is he okay? How is he doing?” Seungyeon asked.
He looked into her eyes across the table. “Honestly, he's okay. He's doing well.” He couldn't go into detail because he didn't think he could tell one of his best friends that her ex boyfriend was already smiling because of someone else.
It was hard to be torn between best friends.
Kele cleared her throat, changing the topic. She knew about Changgu because Yanan told her and like him, she probably didn't want to mention it to Seungyeon. “Girls, I called you all here so we can educate Yanan.” She said.
His eyes widened. He almost choked on his food. “About what?”
Kele frowned, ignoring him. “He's obviously struggling with his first relationship but he always realizes too late.” She told Seunghee and Seungyeon before turning to him, “We'll give you precautions on how not to break a girl's heart.”
Seunghee giggled.
“I like this.” Seungyeon said.
“Yah! Is this really why you called me out here?” Yanan asked as their food was served.
