Chapter five

Melissa closed the door behind her and took a deep breath in. A wave of guilt was weighing her down, knowing that the girl's life was about to crumble after the surgery was done— well, if she would even get the surgery. It was all very stressful battling a normal job and the knowledge of the supernatural.

First things first. She had to call Scott to tell him the girl was awake. She contemplated whether or not she should tell him about the newly added information that she had just received, but knowing her son and his best friend, they would probably find out sooner or later considering Stiles being Stiles and snooping around, so she decided that she would tell them when they would arrive.

"Hey Scott, Olivia is awake-- I mean the girl is awake, but her name is Olivia." The nurse said on the line, stumbling over her words as she paced around the hallway, playing with her dark curly hair.

On the other line, she could practically hear Stiles fall out of his chair and run to the phone to listen in. "Did you talk to her at all?" Scott asked.

Leaning against the wall parallel to the entrance, "Yeah, she's a really sweet girl, but all I got was her name though, which is Olivia Flynn."

On the other line Scott was already making his way out the door, climbing into his best friend's jeep, "Okay thanks mom, we'll be there in a couple minutes." he replied.

They then hung up the phone and made their speedy way in the direction of the hospital.

Olivia was looking around the patient room, taking in her unfamiliar surroundings.

How long am I going to be here?

Where am I?

Interrupting her long thought process, a nurse came in wearing a surgical mask so she was unable to look at her face. Olivia eye'd her down, her guard up and alert around new people. Her eyes practically trailed her as the woman walked up to her I.V and took out a syringe.

She had a bad feeling that she couldn't shake as the nurse just stood there beside her small figure without uttering a single word and inserting the needle into the bag of medicine.

Olivia could have sworn that the nurse was coming later like Melissa told her though.

"Excuse me, what is that?" Olivia asked sternly, staring at the woman. Something was just so familiar about her, like it was on the tip of her tongue.

"Nothing you need to worry about for the time being, Olivia."

She knew that voice.

That specific voice that made her breathe short, palms clammy and her head feel like it was going to implode on itself. The only thought she had was: I need to run, but her body had other plans. Her eyes trailed down the woman and found the evidence to support her 'calculated guess'.
