Meredith Darling turned up in Draco Malfoy's life like a storm.
It was his fifth year at Hogwarts. Merlin, he wished it was his last. He didn't dislike Hogwarts per say. He enjoyed his classes, he was excelling at them, right behind Granger which he begrudgingly admitted was a feat in itself despite her being of.. dubious descent. He liked being a Slytherin, proudly donning the silver and green wherever he went. The accommodations were suitable ( the sunlight, or the lack thereof, did wonders to his complexion ), and the food was alright. Although, he could do without the blithering ass that was Potter, and his fathers frequent criticisms on his grades sent by owl.
The day he left for his fifth year started off relatively well. His mother had dropped him off at King's Cross that morning. His father had been off on important business which he felt Draco had no business knowing. The farewell had been amicable, mother giving him a swift kiss on both cheeks and sent him off with his trunk and a wistful look. He had bumped into Crabbe and Goyle who seemed to never leave each other's side even during the summer so that meant that he wouldn't have to carry his trunk on board. Excellent.
