"Well, who would have known that Draco Malfoy was such a good dancer?"

Unlike the year before wherein she had been bitter and angry, Meredith was excited for Christmas. Maybe her going home for the holidays had cast a rosy sheen over her vision but this year, everything around her seemed so much more beautiful. The wreaths of green and red decorating the halls were lusher, the dancing fairy lights strung above their head brighter. Even the cold harsh winter billowing outside the warmth of the castle didn't seem that bad.

However, as the castle grew more festive and the highly anticipated Christmas holidays (or, alternatively, a reprieve from the mounting load of work) grew closer, Meredith found herself quite alone.

Not in the sense that she was alone, no, she was constantly surrounded by her friends whom she loved dearly; well, more or less.

Following Slytherin's major loss to Gryffindor, Blaise's schedule had grown busy with the increasing number of Quidditch practices he had, all up into unacceptable hours at night ( "Bloody hell, it's almost one in the morning, Zabini!" ). Daphne had been attending extra lessons because her grades were falling behind and she'd rather avoid the scathing words and snide remarks of her parents during the holidays.
