"Malfoy! Nice to see you again." Her syrupy sarcastic smile was fooling nobody, least of all someone as observant as Malfoy, "I think."

"So, Beauxbatons." He started, but was interrupted by the girl with mousy brown hair she had seen on the train previously, who whined out, shooting Meredith a dirty look in the process, "Come on Draco. She obviously wasn't even smart enough to stay at Beauxbatons. She won't last the year here at Hogwarts and then she'll be off again, a disgrace to the Pureblood witch race and the last of her sullied family name. There's no point investing any time—"

  "Oh, shut it, Parkinson."

Meredith turned to the source of the voice to find the tall dark skinned boy of very few words who she had bumped into at the carriage door earlier. He didn't look at Meredith but fixed 'Parkinson' with a stony glare. The girl flushed redder than on the train, her thin lips slamming shut. The unknown boy must have some prestige and power amongst this crowd to shut up a bratty conceited girl like her. Parkinson was your typical mean girl, unable to come up with an interesting personality, so she adopted one that had played out a million times. She would have such fun taking Parkinson down a peg this year.
