Harry had first arrived at the Burrow a few days prior. They celebrated his birthday by setting up a private dinner gathering on the porch of the Burrow; a scrumptious feast cooked up by Molly Weasley with colourful glowing lanterns merrily floating above the small group that had gathered to celebrate ( it reminded Harry of the Time room in the Department of Mysteries, but he decided not to think too much of it ). They laughed, and chatted, and recalled the good times of the year before ( much to his surprise, Bill Weasley was dating Fleur Delacour ).

Unfortunately, the joyful mood was sullied by Remus' news that Karkaroff had been found dead in a shack up in the mountains, suspected to be running away from Voldermort, turning the once merry mood sour. It was an overall unpleasant affair which ended in Molly sending everyone off to bed early in a huff. Harry lay awake for hours after that to the sound of Ron's quiet snores.

"There's no more bacon left as it's been eaten by the people who were awake before nine in the morning. Meaning everybody else in the house besides you two."

The once cramped and crowded Burrow became even fuller once Meredith and her absurd number of luggages had come to stay for the remainder of the summer ( "Mum, her dad is awful, you've got to let her live here with us!" ), but Harry would admit that he didn't mind it; other than the constant chiding they received for consistently being the last two people to wake in the overflowing home. If Molly had any qualms about Meredith staying with them prior to actually meeting her, they had all but disappeared now. Ron often joked that Molly was practically on the verge of adopting Meredith. Molly merely hummed in response whenever the topic was brought up.
