Draco hadn't seen her since the quiet evening when they had first arrived at Hogwarts. But he sure had heard the gossip flying around ( mainly from Pansy, as that seemed the thing she was best at, or rather the only thing ) over breakfast the next morning while he read the Daily Prophet with his cup of tea. Some tosh about a new species of bird discovered and a small cover piece on how Dumbledore was a total nutter. The usual.
He had heard that Darling had been very vocal on her opinion on Umbridge yet still managing to evade detention, unlike Potter ( What he would have given to been there to witness this ), had heard that she had somehow become quick friends with Granger, and similarly, everyone she had merely spoken to, but the hottest and biggest piece of gossip?
That Meredith Darling was an absolute flirt.
So, maybe he had first thought that she liked Draco at least a little, had been charmed by him ( Not that he was ) after the first night where they had officially declared a truce with one another, but then he found out she acted like that to everyone. Someone had even claimed to have seen Granger turn bright pink at something she had said. No, he was not jealous. But his Veela theory was increasingly becoming more plausible everytime he heard some outrageous story about what she had done now. Fleur Delacour was French as well, wasn't she?
