Hogwarts had declared war on Dolores Umbridge.

Since the twins left in a blaze of glory to begin a joke shop in London with Harry's Triwizard tournament winnings from the year before, Hogwarts was in a state of open rebellion against Umbridge. It was good fun, spelling dungbombs to be thrown at her all times of the day, tricking Filch with Skiving Snackboxes, Meredith even helping Lee Jordan to release Nifflers into Umbridge's office by creating a diversion ( "Oh, Professor Umbridge! I adore your outfit! Where did you get it from? You should tell me all about it. As detailed as possible." ). Umbridge somehow still had not caught on to her sarcasm till this day and seemed to think that Meredith adored her. Maybe her charming personality worked on toads as well.

However this rebellion meant that the newly coined Inquisitorial Squad bore the brunt of the Umbridge rebellion.

"I still don't understand why you had to join the Inquisitorial Squad. S'not like you need the extra credit." Meredith scolded as she dipped her towel back into the bowl of water.

Draco, with the newly minted shiny 'I' pinned to his robes, had stalked back to the Common Room covered in a sort of slime which she suspected was a pre-release of Weasley's Wizard Wheezes ( they wrote her the week before about acquiring a prime spot on Diagon Alley ). The rest of the Slytherins in the common room laughed at him behind their hands as he stormed through the door. Draco snarled at them, and they instantly shut up, busying themselves with other things.
