"I donno Tommy. You really think so?"

"For the love of god shut up I can't do this anymore."

With a laugh I keep stocking the shelves. I've worked for Tommy Chow Mein for a while now. Not that he really has a say. I'm not the fire fight kinda guy but I still wanna do something, so I work for Tommy. He says he wishes I would leave him alone but I know he appreciates the help. It's not like I live here. I live at the motel 10 minutes from here.

"So, back on topic, you really think I shouldn't date him?"

"Obvously not! The guys a fuckin creep!"

"But he's a creep with red hair. Im a slut for red hair."

He rolls his eyes. "Watch the register, I'm taking a break. And find someone else with red hair!"

"Yeah yeah, whatever."

I stand behind the register, leafing through a magazine when I hear the door open. I don't really pay who's ever there any attention. Some random killjoy probably.

"Hey, uhh... do you have any paint?'' I point to the left of me without looking up. It's in an obvious place. "Oh."

"Yeah."

A few minutes later the guy walks back up and puts stuff on the counter. "Just this stuff."

"Sweet. So that'll be uhhh...'' I finally looked at his face. Wow he's hot. Like he's obviously a god amongst men. Oh and he's the most well known killjoy and bli's number one enemy, but he's fine as hell. "That'll be 50 carbons."

"Is there any way we could work out something that'll... lower that price?" Oh. He's trying to seduce me to get cheap shit. Damn. He's hot but he's clearly out of his comfort zone here. It's almost cute, but mostly laughable.

"Hmmm.. I can think of one thing..'' I add a wink at the end for extra measure.

He looks taken aback for a second, obviously confused that this seems to be working. "What's that?"

He looks so hopeful, I nearly feel bad for this. "Put some stuff back."

His face falls a little, but then he starts laughing. "Come on, Kobra isnt letting me spend over 30 carbons on art supplies! I need this shit!"

"Sorry man, I don't make the rules. I dont wanna get fired."

"I haven't seen you around here before, how long have you worked here?"

"About a year, give or take."

"Then how the hell have I not met you before? I think I'd remember a face like yours."

"Yeah, whatever. Mostly work in the back."

"Oh ok. Well then I guess I'll just get this stuff then, and I'll put everything else back."

"Good deal. I'll put that stuff back, it's not like I'm doing anything."

"Then you won't mind if I hang around longer?"

"Not at all."

We talk for a little bit until Tommy comes back from his break.

"Party Poison? Get out of here. We're about to close."

"Oh uh.. Sorry, I'll see you around.. I never caught your name."

"Oh it's-" I start. "Yeah yeah get out we're closed." Tommy literally pushes him out the door.

"The fuck was that?'' I ask. We shouldn't close for another hour.

"I don't want you getting involved with him. That's way too dangerous."
