"Hello, love, it's me. I'm sorry for not coming here these few days. Something just came up–I believe it's a new threat. But I'll do anything what it takes to overcome it–it has been one year yet I feel like it all happened yesterday. I see you everywhere I go, Rae. I feel your warmth every time I close my eyes–"

The guy who's in his late twenties shut his dark green eyes tightly with a shaky breath fanned his lips. He was trying to fight his urge to cry. He didn't want to shed tears in front of her–her grave. He didn't want her to get worried about him. His messy blue hair flowed a little because of the cold night wind and the stars that he used to gaze together with her just twinkled beautifully in the sky.

"I've kept thinking about the promise you asked me to make–you know love, at that moment, something in–my heart indicated that you had became a silhouette, as if you walked out of my life and left behind blackness. But I ignored that feeling and before I got the chance to hold you, you were gone. I wanted so much to keep you close, to talk and laugh like we once did, to kiss you whenever I wanted. It's all gone, Rae."

Missing someone, there was an ache that came and disappeared, always returning in quiet moments. Maybe, in a few years they can be together, close, happy if he was fast enough to save her. Then, he can have something that was actually good, that had a chance of eternal euphoria with her. They would grow old together, doing everything they both loved in nature, in silly things.

"I've got you roses, just like I used to get you back then when we were out for our dates." Jellal lifted the corner of his lips weakly, lowering his body to put the flowers on the tombstone. It was her favorite. His hand brushed some leaves on the cold surface and suddenly, a bird came flying to his shoulder and chirped at his face cutely. The little bird tilted its head and looked at the writing ahead.

His eyes softened. "You had always been an animal lover. Though you are gone, your aura remains, beautiful and strong–" His lips released a chuckle and a single tear rolled down on his cheek. "Making the pain all the worse–keeping the feelings so raw, but I'll try. In time I'll learn new skills to cope, I always do, I am a survivor after all. I think all credits go to Haruka. She is everything you are."

The passage of time can dull many times, allow the brain to redirect, reinvest energy elsewhere. In his tough times years back then, knowing she still loved him just raised a hope in him. And they met again. Jellal would come running if she ever needed help but he knew, she's strong. She was alright all by herself but for now, their paths diverged.
