"Thank you" I said as the waiter set my food in front of me
"go on, try it!" Seth used me, already shoving his wings down his throat
"Yeah come on, Serena, they don't bite you, you bite them!" Quil called from the other side of the table and the entire side of the tabs erupted int laughter
"Do ou all need to be watching me? or can I do it by myself?" i asked the group and they all stared at me, "alright, well here goes nothing," I stabbed my fork into a small ball of meat and sauce and brought it up to my mouth, taking a bite, "its alright, it could be dipped in something I think"
"Oooh! Try blue cheese! Its amazing! " Seth cheered and a few groans were heard from around the table
"Seth, blue cheese is rancid, no sister of mine will ever like it" Sam said sternly causing me to look away
"Yeah! Sam's right! That stuff is disgusting and if you like it Serena I'm sending you to live with Seth" Embry added on laughing
"Oh come on just try it, then you can try ranch" Jake said and I nodded, dipping the last bet of my wing in Seths blue cheese
"Its alright," I said after chewing and swallowing the bite, "probably never going to have it again though"
"Oh thank heavens, I on't know if I could send you to live with Seth after just getting you back!" Embry exclaimed
"Try ranch now! I always eat my food with ranch, like pizza, vegetables, chicken strips, all the good stuff!" Kim exclaimed squirming in her chair
"Yeah, I think that you eat a little too much of it" Jared commented earning a smack across the back of his head from Kim
"I like this one!" I exclaimed taking another bite quickly
After we were done eating I was dragged over to what I think is a claw machine by Kim and Emily, "We have to win some, its tradition , every time we come here we each win one, and now we can win 3!" Emily squealed, putting money into the machine
I watched as Emily controlled the claw attachment and dropped it on top of a whale stuffed animal, "Yes! You got it! My turn!" Kim squealed bouncing with excitement to get a turn, "aw come on, I have to go again!"
"Hurry up, babe, we have to leave soon to get the twins home on time and Serena still has to win one, and from what I assume she's never done one before" Jared said coming up behind Kim, wrapping his arms around her and resting his chin on her shoulder
"Im trying, Jare, but I'm not ding too hot today" Kim replied getting frustrated
"Maybe its all the ranch you ate with your wings, maybe its finally getting to your head" Jared joked with her and she sighed
"Hush, you are the same way with honey mustard. Yes! Finally! I got it! Your turn now, Serena, we can help you" Kim yelled and Jared rushed her, reminding her that we're in a public space
"I don't have any money, so I can't play it" I said sadly, upset that I couldn't be a part of their tradition
"Its ok sweetie! Its Sam's money so you can play as many times as you need to win! Come on, its not very hard to win" Emily said leading me to the machine and explaining to me how to play
She went though the steps with me a few times before I gave it a shot myself. I lost the first and second games, but I managed to hook onto a dinosaur stuffed animal,"You did it!" Kim cheered for me, bringing her hedgehog over to show me.
"Come on, lets take our picture quick so we can get you guys home in time to get ready for dinner tonight" Emily said bringing us to stand in front of the machine to hold up our stuffed animals for a picture.
Sam took our picture before rushing us out of the restaurant and to our respective cars, "We have an hour drive and the twins should be home by 4:45 to help their mother with dinner and to clean up so we've got to leave now. Be careful on the road, I'm looking at you Embry"
"I haven't done anything wrong, why are you looking at me?" Embry asked, faking offense
"You'r driving illegally, you are 15 years old and driving 3 people around, one of which happens to be my sister that I just got back so I don't want to lose her" Sam explained and Embry nodded
"I'll be careful, I promise, but lets go, mom gets mad when I'm back late" Embry said and Jake, Quil and I followed him into the truck.
When we got home real mom was rushing around the kitchen pulling things out of different cupboards, "Why are you rushing around mom?" Embry asked her, sitting down at the table
"Dinner has to be perfect tonight since we have guests" real mom replied
"Its just Sam and Emily, whats the big deal?" Embry questioned, pouring a cup of water from the pitcher on the table
"Yes, but its your brother Sam," real mom emphasized, "not just Sam anymore, it has to be good, especially since you talk about how wonderful Emily's cooking is"
"Do you want some help? I cooked all the time before all of this" I asked her and she nodded her head frantically
"Yes please, sweetie, I've never been much of a good cook, its why I encourage Embry to eat at his friends or Sam's houses more often then not" real mom pleaded and I nodded, grabbing some ingredients after reading the recipe.
"Hey whats up?" Embry said after answering his phone, "What? When? How? We'll be there after dinner"
"Who was it honey?" real mom asked, continuing to mix ingredients together to make a pasta sauce
"That was Paul, he just wanted to tell me something" Embry replied
"Can we know what it was? Or is it more secret work stuff?" real mom pried, looking up from the recipe sheet
"Jared and Kim got into a car accident"
