"What? How? When?" I asked frantically, concern for my new friends lacing my voice

"They were on their way back from Buffalo Wild Wings and somebody hit them and they went into the ditch, they're ok, but they want us to come after dinner" Embry replied quickly

"Both of them are fine? 100% ok?" I asked him again

"Jared is completely ok, just a few scratches and a headache and Kim has some scratches, a minor concussion, and fractured her hand" He said, picking at the hem of his t shirt

"That's not ok! Kim fractured her hand and has a concussion and you think that they're ok?" I exclaimed, waving my hands in the air

"She's fine! She might need surgery on it but otherwise she's fine! We can go to see them after dinner" Embry yelled back

"Fine" I said just as the doorbell rang

"Oooh! They're here! Embry go get the door please" real mom said getting excited.

"I hope you don't mind that we came early, I had to talk to Embry about some work stuff and I figured that I could come early to do it" Sam said walking into the kitchen follow Embry, Emily following him

"Oh it's no problem, we were just putting the food into the oven, make yourselves at home" real mom said, closing the oven

"Let's go talk out in the back" Embry said, leading Sam outside to the back of the house

"Do you need any help, Tiffany?" Emily asked

"Oh no, why don't you and Serena go and sit in the living room?" real mom replied and Emily nodded, following me to the living room

"You heard about Jared and Kim right?" Emily asked me, sitting down on the couch

"Yeah, Embry said we're going to go see them after dinner" I replied, sitting next to her

"Good, I know that Sam said Kim was asking for you to come"

"Really? She was asking for me?"

"Of course, you guys are friends"

Embry

"You have patrol tonight with Paul now" Sam told we as soon as we got outside

"What? Who was supposed to before?" I asked him

"Jared was supposed to go with him but he can't because of the accident"

"Why can't anyone else do it?"

"Seth and Leah have church with their mom, Jake and Quil have the day shift and I have the morning shift so it's down to you"

"And why can't Paul do it alone?"

"Because of the sightings recently, we protect our people and it's more important now that we have Serena who has no clue about any of this"

"Alright fine, but what if my mom or Serena catches me sneaking out? You know what happened last time"

"Just don't get caught or your running doubles"

"You can't do that to me, you know what happened to Jake after he finished his doubles"

"Which is why you need to be careful and not get caught"

"Let's go back in, I'm sure my mom is talking Emily and Serena's ears off" I said and we walked back inside to where they were talking

We joined in on their conversation until we were interrupted by the smoke alarm started to go off, "my chicken! Oh no!" My mom yelled, jumping off the clutch and running into the kitchen

"I'm going to go help her with dinner" Emily said standing up

"Yes please! Anything to help my mothers terrible cooking!" I exclaimed, faking relief

"I heard that Embry! And it's fine! The smoke alarm just has Embrys attitude when you take away his food!"

"Come in and eat before it gets cold" Emily said sticking her head into the living room

Serena

I followed Sam and Embry into the kitchen and took a seat at the table between real mom and Emily. We all fished up our food and ate, making conversation throughout the entire dinner.

After dinner Emily and I helped real mom clean up while Sam and Embry went to talk about work stuff again. "So, Emily, how are you and Sam?" Real mom asked

"We're doing wonderful, the wedding is in a couple of months and we're super excited. The real question is who Serena has been all buddy buddy with the past week" Emily replied and my face morphed into confusion

"Who? Is it one of Embrys friends? Jake or Quil?" Real mom asked excitedly and my face got red

"Nope neither of them!" Emily sang, "his name starts with P and ends with aul!"

"Paul? As in Paul Lahote? I don't know about him honey, he's kind of a man whore" real mom said, "I just don't want you to get hurt"

"There's nothing going on between us, he just took care of me while I was sick, besides, I just met him last week" I replied, continuing to wash dishes

"It could be love at first sight! You could have a happily ever after!" Emily sang again

"There's no such thing as soulmates" I deadpanned

"Hey, you ready to go see Jared and Kim?" Embry asked walking into the kitchen

"Yes!" I exclaimed, " it's about time!"

"I guess that's our cue to go then" Sam said, wrapping his arm around Emily, "Thank you for having us"

"It was my pleasure, now go and see your friends, I can finish cleaning up" real mom said smiling at us

"Bye, We'll be back in a bit!" Embry called and I followed him out to his truck.

When we got to the hospital we followed the directions to where Kim's room was, Sam and Emily following behind us. "Hey guys!" Jared exclaimed when we walked into the room. He was sitting next to Kim in the bed, a few bandaids on his arms

"What happened to you guys?" I asked them concerned

"I was driving us back from Buffalo Wild Wings and somebody hit us sending us into the ditch" Kim explained, a weird look taking over her face

"It was one of them" Jared concluded Kim's statement, exchanging a look with Sam and Embry.
