A wholesome update over specific things.

So I will start with a bit of ranting.

Recently, I have been getting many comments about the dislike for either one of my main characters. I don't mind. You have a right to your opinion. I will still appreciate you for giving my book a chance and reading to whatever extent you will read. I will still value you as the rest of the fans of this book. I will welcome you, respond, speak to you, converse.

But if you want me to change my main characters to suit you, then please kindly write your own book. It's ok not to like them yet unacceptable when people try to dictate what I should write/create. I won't respond to any of these demands.

Li Lian is strong, she is petty, chidish, clever and intelligent. She is beautiful and graceful. She can be ignorant at times, which can be irritating. Some people come here expecting the normal good girl, the virtuous Mary Sue. I'm sorry that this is not what you are going to get. Our girl is bold and very willful.

Li Lian just did not receive love as a child. So she will not love as easily but she does try. She was not that girl that grew up with friends/a mother that gave her love, encouragement and appreciation. Also, did she not have any exposure to advice about love and relationships, what to do and what not to do. What is acceptable and what isn't acceptable. All she knows was from Mistress Ki, who we just saw in the previous chapter to be having her own past and hurt. Mistress Ki wasn't that much of an example she could really learn from about matters of the heart.

The only advice she gets is from one person, Dao, who gives horrible advice half the time because the love Dao knows of is one written in the fantasy books she reads.

Bai Shen Hong, my Yu'er. He has temper issues, he has his own irritations, feels misunderstood by the world (listen to his poems), surrounded by people but very lonely―his company is scarcely the twins, Luo Meng who barely says much, the entourage that fears him, his mother who sees him as a god, harem women who seek the empress crown. He has major trust issues because of the way he lost his father, being raised by Dowager Empress Wang and watching for himself with his mother being locked away. He seems to have had a good relationship with his father so because of his biological mother and a good father he is in touch with his emotions, knows he has problems that need to be worked on and that he must improve. Although at times he treats everyone as if they owe him because of his father's death. Killing servants easily is 'ok' in his terms just cause he is suspicious they killed his father. So inexcusable. Yuwen Hong has many layers.

Another trait is, he loves easily. He has a trait he got from his mother, one who loves unabashedly when she chooses to. Have you seen how Grand Consort Shu loves nobody as much as Yuwen Hong? Remember the first chapters? As long as her Yu'er is ok, she is happy and all can be good.

When her beloved Li Lian came back to the palace when her son was sick, she didn't care that Li Lian was back. She didn't even celebrate it, yet when she thought Li Lian was dead, she was sorrowful. Why? Because her son is her obsession. And hmm... *spoiler* you can see the same traits slowly befalling the emperor. He is unforgiving, uncaring, cold and ruthless to people. Even his beloved shadow guard who is always looking after him and the one he calls friend gets punished when he makes a mistake. Servants are easily killed by him. But yet when it comes to Li Lian we have to start questioning why he is not as cold? Is his mother's traits of being obsessed about that one thing manifesting in his life that he doesn't see her flaws? I mean he well knows Li Lian is trouble, lies a lot and must be a spy. Why not easily kill her?

And what if he becomes obsessed with Li Lian, will he be willing to forgive her? Or maybe his obsession will become borderline dangerous? Note that obsession isn't healthy. Or maybe he is just his own person who will work on his path.

We don't really know cause he has many layers and is quite unpredictable.

Another thing I get asked a lot is on Nameless. First of all Nameless is a woman. She was Li Lian's first mistress who died and then got replaced by Mistress Ki. This is all in the first chapter. But I think cause it was a poetic chapter people missed these hints. But it doesn't matter for I am still building the case of Nameless. Who is Nameless? Why did she mean so much to Li Lian? She is alive, how will she move this story?

General Feng. What side is he on? Does he honor Nevoria over Huticah? And what about his feelings over Yang Liu, are there any feelings or it's just a rouse?

The Grand Dowager Empress. She is old and seems to be tired with matters of life. Yet, she has ambition that makes her cunning at times. Her aspirations make her unlikeable. The other time she even contemplated taking over the throne, imagined what would happen if her grandson disappeared. She seems to adore Luo Meng, why? And could it be that she loves Luo Meng over Yuwen Hong? Is that why she is sometimes just horrendous in her acts towards Yuwen Hong? They have a bad relationship by the looks of it.

This book has many characters. These are the few I could mention to open your eyes if you feel you have been missing things or maybe you forgot stuff due to this book being in almost 2 years of writing.

Lastly, thank you all for the support in any manner or form. Where are we going? So far we have a little calm before the storm. So it may feel slow but don't worry I'm building something, still covering base. Then we will have action! What you read now will look insignificant until later on where you will be like, "Ohhh!"

Alright, have a lovely day or night. I hope this chapter helped you to be able to look through the lines and get thinking. I understand this book is not for everyone but those who love it are very nice. Thank you❤️

Update on Friday! It's on Yang Liu. Then the next chapter will be on Bai Shen Hong. Then Li Lian. That's if I don't change my mind to someone else, program not set in stone.
