Your phone buzzes and you know it's your best friend. Indiana without even looking. She has been your ride to school most mornings for the last year you've been friends.
You spill outside, still zipping your bookbag and hop in her car. She is blaring music as usual, tho it usually gets turned down halfway to school so she can spill whatever drama she knows on the ride. Today's rant is how the school's IT couple might be on the outs again because she deleted the photo of them she'd just posted the day before

Indiana: "Tho it could have also been because she didn't like how she looked or it didn't get enough likes. She always does that"
You: "I mean does it matter they always get back toget-"
Indiana: *interrupts to continue* "Bryce is literally so hot and of course she looks perfect but God is she mean. Like he is so funny and nice and...."
She continues her rant and you just smile and nod because when she gets like this she doesn't hear anything you say anyway. Bryce has never given her so much as a hello beyond one time when she wore a miniskirt to school and he had looked down his sunglasses at her and said 'cute' with a wink.
Walking into this school is always dreadful. Things were so easy when you were a kid. Everyone was so excited to be there and all it took to be friends was saying 'Hi'. As you walk across the grass towards the front doors, Indiana is still prattling on about a class she has spent the last 2 months taking with Bryce but never had the nerve to talk to him.
