The next day you wake up and see Noah still spread out next to you. You stare at his face for a while imagining how different things might be if you'd never drifted apart. You hear movement downstairs so you decide to slip into sweats and head down. Your Mom is cooking breakfast and you try to find a way to bring up that Noah is asleep upstairs... especially after how upset she'd gotten with you having Bryce and Blake over the other day. Before you can find the words to explain, Indiana trods down the stairs with Noah right behind.

Dad: "Noah? What are you doing here?"

Noah: "I hope it's cool that I crashed here. I know I used to stay a lot, but I didn't know. It was just so late and you know my dad gets up so early for work and I was worried about interrupting his sleep"

Mom: *sitting her spatula down, she came around to hug Noah* "You're always welcome here, sweetheart. Sit and eat some pancakes"

You can't help but wonder if your mom was only ok with Noah's sleepover because Indiana had been there also, or if she too still saw you as the little girl Noah would never consider as more than a friend
