"Hailie has a boyfriend"

"No I don't you big oaf!" I shouted while giving a hard hit to Xander's chest, but it didn't seem to affect him.

"Hailie, care to explain what Xander is talking about?" Mason asked as his grip on my phone tightened and his knuckles turned white as his hazel eyes turned a deep brown.

It was safe to say I was scared shitless.

"I don't have a boyfriend! Xander saw me texting Harden and assumed he was my boyfriend. He's not, he's just a friend and I was trying to tell Xander that but his small pea sized brain couldn't register it." I said while crossing my arms over my chest and let out a huff of air.

Xander glared at me, and Mason was studying my face to see if I was lying.

After a minute, he took my phone, and placed it in-front of my face. I was confused until I saw that he used it to un-lock my phone and I bet he went straight to the messages.

Curse you face-ID.

I honestly didn't care if Mason went through my phone, I didn't have anything to hide, and me and Harden were just friends, and had regular chats.

After a few minutes of silence, Mason gave me my phone back.

"She was telling the truth Xander, but if I ever find out that you and Harden become more then friends, it won't be so fun. Understood?" Mason said coldly.

I gulped "Of course."

"Good. Now go eat breakfast and get ready for school." Mason said and left me and Xander in an awkward silence.

"Listen here brat, I don't care what you say you and Harden are but I know that you two aren't just friends. And if I find out that anything is going on, I'll personally slaughter him. Got it buttercup?" Xander said in probably the most threatening voice I've ever heard him use.

I tried to show that I wasn't at all scared. "Yeah, yeah I get it. But good luck trying to be-head him cause there's nothing happening between us" I said while waving my hand carelessly at him.

I got off the couch and left to the kitchen without another word. I grabbed the toast while chugging down a smoothie and running to get to the car while finishing the toast, and while Will was repeatedly honking the horn at the same time.

This stupid boy is driving me insane

I got in the car and slapped Will's arm.

"Ow! What was that for?" He said while rubbing his arm where I slapped him.

I rolled my eyes. "1. Stop acting like I hurt you, my slaps don't do anything, 2. Stop honking, it's very annoying, and 3. We're going to be late so hurry up." I said while releasing a breath and swallowing the last piece of toast and wiping my hands on my jeans.

Will rolled his eyes. "That's why I was honking stupid."

But without another word, he stepped on the gas, and we were on our way to school.

The ride there was quiet, yet peaceful. Will was focusing on the road and tapping his finger on the steering wheel to whatever song was playing on the radio. And me? I was in my own world.

I could help but think of the little quarrel that happened between me and Xander this morning. Of course I was right when saying that nothing was going on between me and Harden, but I wish there was. Of course the boys would kill me and Harden if I told them that we were dating, but it was never going to happen. It was obvious he didn't like me back and just thought of me as a friend.

Even if he did want to date me, he wouldn't want to once he finds out about all my problems. Of course I'm not going to go and spill my life story to him, but if we were to date, after a while, I would have to tell him, and that was something I don't know if I was ready for.

———————

I groaned as I face planted onto my bed and let my school bag fall to the floor. School has been absolutely exhausting today. I had 3 tests, a test I had to study for tomorrow, and a new essay I have to write. School was getting harder and harder each day. Even though it's only been 3 months into school, I couldn't wait for summer. Great.... only 7 more months to go.

I slid off my bed and sat on the floor next to my bag. I grabbed my laptop from my dresser, and opened my bag. I had a lot of work to do, and I wasn't about to start procrastinating now.

After 3 hours, I was finally done with everything. A 1000 word essay was printed, stacked and stapled in my bag, and I was sure I was going to ace my Chemistry test tomorrow.

I got up quickly, but immediately regretted it as my legs were numb from sitting down for so long, so I quickly fell onto my bed and just flopped onto the bed again. After a few minutes I got back up and went to my closet and changed into some black athletic shorts, and an oversized black T-Shirt that was from Alex's' closet. But we don't need to tell him that ;)

I threw my hair into a loose bun and went downstairs to go eat dinner. It was now 7pm, and I hadn't eaten since lunch at school, so I was starving.

"Hey Hailie" Cole said to me as I walked into the kitchen. I was too tired to respond so I gave him a weak smile and sat down in between Alex and Will who also greeted me. But again, I could only manage a small smile.

They knew I was extremely tired as I didn't try to hide it, yet they didn't push me to find out what was wrong, which I was very thankful for.

We ate our dinner which consisted of chicken, beans, mashed potatoes and a pice of fruit tart for dessert. I was very full after and gladly curled up on the couch after. Just as I was about to watch some Criminal Minds, the remote was snatched from my hand and my body was shoved even more to the corner of the couch and someone took up the rest of the couch. Clearly making themselves comfortable as they stretched their feet so it was resting on my stomach.

Xander.

"Hey! What are you doing, I was about to watch that!" I yelled at Xander as he switched the show to one I've never seen before.

"Suck it up buttercup." He carelessly said while flipping through some episodes.

I rolled me eyes. "Why don't you stick-"

"Both of you cut it out! You're both teenagers, so act like it! Right now, you're acting like children." Alex said while on his way upstairs.

"Also Hailie, is that another shirt of mine?" He asked with a tone of playfulness in his voice.

I smiled sheepishly.

He rolled his eyes and continued upstairs.

"Eh whatever. We're watching what I want."

I sighed. I didn't want to fight right now. My head was pounding and I felt like it was going to explode.

"Fine. Then atleast let me get comfortable, and not be squished into a tiny corner of the couch.

"Fine." Xander mumbled.

And honestly, the night didn't end too bad. I was too tired to watch anything, so I fell asleep on Xander's chest while his heavy arm was draped over me in a comforting manner. Much different from his attitude this morning.

I fell asleep peacefully knowing that for now, there was no Harden, no grades, no nothing.

Just me, and my brothers.

Hey everyone! This chapter was just suppose to be a cute one. I didn't have much to write about since I was getting some writers block. And recommendations for the next few chapters? I don't want to disappoint you all with boring chapters. Love you all ❤️
