Yeahhh, so I kinda made the beginning part kinda gruesome?? Basically, just best boy Izuku getting beat up, so if you're not with that just go to the "‼️‼️‼️"  that'll be at the end of it. Nothing too intense, but it gets better near the end

Deja Vu
●▬▬▬▬▬๑⇩⇩๑▬▬▬▬▬●

Izuku always knew something like this would happen, knew he'll be forced to face some form of punishment. Nonetheless, no fight would've ever prepared him for the pain searing throughout his body. The mer painfully biting at his lip until he felt a metallic taste, praying that all of it was some twisted nightmare. Shutting his eyes tightly, looking for any type of escape as his mind wandered to the distinct calming waters of his home.

Memories flashed throughout his panicked state, finding comfort in the many special moments. Izuku remembered his chance to become a Zodai, and his mentor who helped train him to perfection, to even the joyous talks he had with Kayama. He remembers the many times spent with the mers he came to call his own sisters, even the first time he was first introduced to all of them. He thought back to the undisputed love and devoted support that they had in Izuku.

In the end, he remembered what made him, him. He knew that if they were all there, they'd be screaming for him to not give up so easily, to continue fighting. Therefore, with the last ounce of consciousness he had, he chose to listen and prove to the ones he cares for that their support wasn't misplaced.

Izuku's face was stressed and contorted in agony, using every fiber in him to not shed a single tear. He can feel his eyes watering, feel the dampness of his eyelashes as he tried holding it in. In an attempt, Izuku even decided to press his face against the carpeted floor, he even bit at the carpet for some type of relief as he felt his body heat up.

Above him, Enji grew impatient at the lack of any success. He even chose to shove the sword further down the mer's delicate skin, only to receive muffled screams and cries.

"What's wrong? You think you can handle it?" Enji stated, standing up as he clenched his teeth angrily. He wasn't in the mood to continue wasting time with his health still depleting, opting for a quicker approach. "Fine, let's just see how long you'll last."

The king's words were laced with venom, causing shivers to rake throughout Izuku's body. Enji eventually removed the sword from Izuku's arm, smirking slightly as he saw the charred tissue underneath. Izuku's arm was a disfigured mess, skin burned and distorted into a rough texture, feeling it sting as the cold air gazed over it.

Nevertheless, Enji tossed the heated sword to the side, motioning for one of his guards to discard of it as he walked forward. He stopped once he was next to where the green-haired boy's hands were laid out due to Onima gripping on the chains.

"These hands, I'm sure they won't be of use either, not like you'll be swimming anytime soon. Wouldn't want you to try to claw someone in their sleep, right?" He asked maniacally, relishing in the startled expression of the mer before the king highly lifted up his foot.

Another painful scream wailed throughout the room, followed by a barely noticeable cracking sound. Enji made sure to use most of his force, finding pride in his work at the bruised and misshapen fingers.

He proceeded with a few more stomps, until the mer's hand was a purple broken mess, bruising intensely. The king noted specks of blood oozing out of the wounds, eyes darting from the infliction to inspect Izuku's reaction.

Yet, the mermaid still didn't respond how he hoped it would. He expected the creature already be a crying mess, begging for his dear life, yet nothing happened. Despite his right arm practically an aching bloody mess, the mermaid never once even chose to look up at Enji at all.
