Friday July 24th.

Carrying the car seat, Seb could barely contain his excitement as he strode back into the maternity suite and then entered the room that had been their home for the last two nights. They were finally going home as a family of three. His sparkling, beaming eyes met those of his wife as he put the grey car seat down on the bed close to where she was sat with Luis sleeping peacefully in her arms. He wanted to burst with outright joy and pride as Chloe gazed down at her newborn son with nothing but complete and utter love and adoration on her face, she was taking to motherhood as if she if it was what she'd been solely born to do. "Are we ready?" He asked quietly, not wanting to wake his son. Having taken their things down to the car already, all that was left to do was to thank Gabriel and Marie for everything they'd done to help make Luis' birth go as smoothly as it could have done and then pay the hefty bill that had nearly had his wife in hysterics when she'd seen it.

"Very ready." She replied, lifting her gaze to meet his. "Want to be the first to put him in his car seat?"

"I'd love to." He answered quickly and then leant in to scoop Luis up from his mother's arms. "Did you purposely co-ordinate his clothes with his seat?" He asked in amusement as he looked at Luis' little grey beanie hat and white babybrow with a small grey dotted pattern on it.

"I have to confess that it was accidental but I'm actually quite chuffed with it." She stood up and moved the straps out of the way on the car seat, ready so that Seb could place the baby gently inside. As she'd half expected Luis was already making his feelings clear and crying, having been woken up as Seb had lifted him from her arms.

"Oh I'm sorry." He cooed as he held Luis against his chest while supporting his head with one hand. "I know, I'm a bad daddy, I woke you up but it'll be worth it, we're taking you home."

"Or we will be as soon as you put him down." Chloe remarked as he started to walk slowly around the room, trying to soothe him.

"What can I say? Once I pick him up, I can't put him down." He said, letting his lips brush lightly over Luis' head as he spoke before giving him a kiss.

"Well we'll have to leave soon otherwise he could be screaming for another feed before we get home and I don't fancy breast feeding at the side of the road."

"Fair point." He admitted, returning to the bed where he reluctantly placed his son in his seat. "Here we go little one, time to go home." As he clicked the harness together and then made sure it was comfortably snug enough for the journey home, he was aware of Chloe watching him and he glanced to see her suddenly looking a little shell shocked. "You ok?"

"It's just....once we leave this room, we're on our own." She uttered quietly as it dawned on her all over again that she was now a mother.

"We'll be just fine, we've got this." He picked up the camel coloured blanket that they'd brought with them and laid it over Luis' body, making sure to loosely tuck it in at the sides. "Look at him." He gushed as Luis stopped crying and appeared to go back to sleep. "He's perfection. I just can't stop looking at him. Thank you."
