Chapter 9

Addisons POV

We wait for the teacher to say her results. I hold dixies hand tighter letting her know I'm here with her. I feel her lightly squeeze back and I smile.

"Ms. Damelio Im sorry to say that you will not be on the bench tomorrow games."

I see dixies eyes light up and she turns around and hugs me tightly.

"I did it Addison I did it" she says excitedly. Once she realized what she was doing she let go of me quickly and cleared her throat.

"I know babe I'm proud of you" I giggle to her. She looks towards the teacher.

"Thank you Lauren for giving me another chance" she says.

"No problem mija... just make me proud tomorrow ok" she says walking away. Dixie look towards me and smiles.

"Thanks for uh... helping me.." she says rubbing the back of neck.

"no problem dix, im always here whenever you need me." I say getting up to go to my next class.

"Wait Addison" I hear dixie say. I turn around to see her running to me.

"Yes" she looks down and play with her hands.

"I wanted to ask you something but... but nvm" she tries walking away and I grab her hand.

"Dixie talk to me... what's wrong?"

"Nothings wrong it's just..." I look at confused but keep my hand in hers.

"It's just i have crush on This girl but she i don't know if she will like me like I like her and I wanna ask her out." She says looking down. I feel my heart crush at what she says. I could feel tears welling up but I blink them away.

"Ask her out... if she says no just know she lost a wonderful beautiful girl ok." She nods and walks off. I go out the school doors and get into my car. I feel like skipping the rest of the day.

Dixies POV

I run to the field ready for practice. Noah and Blake are in a deep conversation. So I walk up to them ignoring the vibes.

"Hey bloah how are you two doing" they both flinch from my voice.

"Nothing" Noah says flustered. I give him a weird look and look towards Blake. His head is down and his kicking the grass.

"Um I gotta go... uh... kick...uh... bye" Noah stammers. He walks away towards the goal. I turn to see Blake walking towards Bryce. I sigh and walk over to Kate and sit beside her.

"Hey turtle why aren't you happy, you're always happy during practice" I shrug at her and look towards the cheer squad and look for Addison. When I don't see her I look down.

"You're girlfriend isn't here, isn't it" i shot my head towards her.

"Addison isn't my girlfriend" I say.

"So it is because she's not here" she says smirking. I roll my eyes and look away.

"No"

"Dix i know you're lying. I see the way you look at eachother during practice. Flirting with eachother across the field" she pushes my lightly on the shoulder. I smile and laugh at her.

"You know I'm telling the truth. You like her" I smile at her.

"Yea... I do... but she doesn't like me" I say frowning.

"Cap" I look at her.

"What you mean cap she's straight"

"Yea ok... you will see" I walk down the bleachers and on the field. My focus was only on Addison and coach wasn't liking it.

"C'mon Dixie focus or you're gonna be running hills" I sigh and get back into position. I see a girl walking across the field. I focused on the figure and realized it was addison. I smile but my smile drops once I hear helmets clashing. Before I could move I was tackled by a line man. I see coach drop his notepad and grab his head. Blake helps me up and I see Addison looking over worried. I wave at her to let her know I'm fine and I see her face relax a little.

"Dixie" I hear coach yell. I sigh and look over to see him pointing to the hills.

"How long coach" I ask.

"20 minutes and don't try leaving early" I nod and walk over to the hills and start running. Coach ended practice for the rest so it's just me and the cheerleaders. 10 minutes later I see Addison walking up to me.

"Dixie damelio running hills... that's never happened before" I let out a breathy chuckle and keep running.

"Yea... i wasn't focused today"

"Why not?" I pretended like I didn't here her question.

"Where's char?"

"Avani took her home" I nod. She sits down and grabs some papers and books out of her bag.

"What are you doing?"

"Homework" I look at her confused.

"I'm not letting you be out here alone. Now shut up and run" I smile and roll my eyes.

Once my 20 minutes were up I laid down and tried catching my breathe. I heard Addison close a book and walk over to me.She laid down beside me and gave me a water bottle. I thanked her and chugged the water quickly. I throw the bottle beside me and Addison slapped my arm.

"Ow What was that for?" I yell.

"For littering dumbass" I laugh and grab the bottle. I walked and threw it in the trash can and laid back down. She was sitting up looking at me.

"What?"  She smiles and looks away.

"Nothing" we stayed there for a while having small talk. I don't know how but just getting to hear her talk makes me fall for her more. We got up and said or goodbyes. I walked into the locker room and changed. I got into my car and drove home when I get a text from Noah.

I sigh and drive to his house.
