Inktober Day 4- Snake

It was the dreaded day of the week for Virgil. Saturday.

He had nothing against Saturdays, besides the fact it was the day of the week you were most likely to die, but he was mostly over that anxiety. No, the main reason he hated Saturday's was because of a standing 3 o'clock appointment he had every week.

In all fairness, it wasn't technically his hangout. It was his spider's. He was just stuck being her ride over.

It was barely 1, and Minuit was already running around her cage all excited. "Calm down, you still have like 2 hours to wait," he told her, throwing a ball of yarn that was on his bed for some reason on top of her cage.

She hissed at him in response. He did the same. She hissed once more, tapping the glass for added effect.

"I lose arguments to you way too often," he grumbled, pulling out his phone to waste away the time.

Finally, 2:45 came around, and since he couldn't ignore the constant sound of her legs climbing across the roof of her terrarium any longer, he got up. "Alright, alright. I hope you know how much I suffer for you."

She stopped moving around as a thanks.

He gave her a sarcastic smile, pulling on his sneakers and not bothering to tie the laces on the left shoe. It was a short walk and if he managed to trip, well that was his own damn fault.

Finally, he approached the creature's cave, giving her a second to scuttle off the roof before removing it, and placing his hand at the side so she could climb on. She fit neatly onto the back of his hand, her legs just about narrow enough to stay perfectly poised. Although, she never chose to stay there. Quickly scuttling her way up his right arm, she maneuvered around until she was sitting comfortably in a fold of his hoodie on his right shoulder. "Ready?" he asked, and after a second without a reply, started off.

He walked slower than might have been necessary, but they still had plenty of time to get there. After all, they weren't going far. Just over to the dark mind palace.

Virgil made his way over with ease, having taken the route several times back in the day. The struggle now was going to be getting himself to actually approach his location. However, the tarantula on his neck who would not hesitate to bite him if he made her late was a great motivator.

At 2:59, he knocked on the door, the yellow pine creaking open almost immediately.

"Virgil, love you being a minute early, truly not an inconvenience whatsoever." The snake that answered the door was dripping in sarcasm, although seemed totally prepared for Virgil to knock a minute early. After all, he did so every other week just to piss off the other.

"You act like Blæse (Blase) hasn't been moving around your room in anticipation," he shot back, Minuit having crawled down his leg by now and was waiting on his foot to see her friend.

"Fair." Deceit opened the door fully at that, showing the snake currently wrapped around his leg, which quickly slithered off to greet the other pet.

Virgil sighed, watching as the two interacted. Minuit climbed on top of Blæse's head, the snake responding with a blep. He sighed.

"The sacrifices I make for you," he mumbled under his breath. "Well, Deceit, it's been terrible seeing you, meet you here for pickup at 6?"

"Of course Virgil, though I do recommend you're not late this time. Remus has a fear of spiders almost as bad as Patton's as you know, and he does like to come make my life worse shortly after 6. Hate to see what happens to your dear pet."

"Anything happens to her, you'll have to deal with me, and that living tube that's currently cocooning her."

"Of course, course. Goodbye, Virgie, see you never."

"Fuck off snake, see you then."

And with that, Virgil walked away. Shame such a nice pet belonged to such a person, but hey, we don't choose our owners. Although...

"I wouldn't mind stealing her for a prank. Minuit would enjoy it, and can't say I would hate the look on Deciet's face." He smiled to himself, making his way back to the regular mind palace and enjoying the fantasy for as long as it would last him.
