-Your POV-

So it's the second week of December, a few weeks ago Harry did his first Tri-Wizard tournament task. That had put us all on the edge of our seats, he got through it though, and for that, we were all thankful. All my friends already had all their Yule Ball dates, Ginny and Harry, Hermione and Draco, and Ron...and Lavender. I cringed just thinking about her. Anyway, I still don't have a date but I'm going with Hermione and Ginny tomorrow to Hogsmeade so they can pick out their dresses, I was happy they invited me though, at least I'd be a little bit involved.

Professor Snape finished the potions lesson and I wrapped up my parchment and grabbed my books so I could put my stuff away in my dorm before supper. We had about an hour before the feast so Hermione, Ginny, and I went out to walk in the snow. The two of them were talking about how excited they were and I just listened, staring down at the glistening snow. I heard a faint crunching noise advancing toward us and I looked up to see none other than Fred Weasley.

He smiled at me "Hello Y/N, how are you on this fine winter's evening?" George and him always talked like that with the ladies and I found it so funny.

"I'm doing well, and yourself?" I smiled back at him.

"I'm doing wonderful, Y/N...but do you know what would make it even better?", he questioned.

"No clue, Fred. Enlighten me." I smiled again, I was honestly puzzled at what he was playing at.

"I would like to know if the beautiful Y/N Y/LN would like to accompany me to the Yule Ball?" he looked really hopeful, and let me say he was not the Weasley I was expecting to ask me, but I wasn't complaining. Fred was really nice and it could be really fun.

"I would love to go with you, Fred." I smiled at him and he smiled back.

"Get a green dress...you look good in green." He winked at me and walked away.

I hadn't realized how much I was blushing until Ginny started teasing me. We all started talking about where we'd be getting our dresses. We decided we would pay Madame Malkin a visit. She had everything for any occasion so we were bound to find something gorgeous.

The three of us could hardly contain our excitement, we had met up after breakfast and made our way to Hogsmeade. We took a quick stop at The Three Broomsticks to grab some butterbeer, we then made our way to Madame Malkins Robes For All Occasions. The small shop was crowded with students, mostly girls. Ginny found her dress almost immediately, the dress she chose had a bubblegum pink bodice and skirt, the dress was adorned with beautiful mint green chiffon upon the skirt, collar, and sleeves, and to bring the dress together there was a brighter pink ribbon band around the waist.

"Ginny, that's gorgeous!" Hermione smiled.

Ginny looked at the price and cringed, "Maybe I should find a different one, this one is a little bit too expensive, Mum didn't give me much."

I shook my head at Ginny. "Nonsense Gin, I'll pay for it. Don't worry about it, my parents won't mind." I smiled at her, she smiled back, almost in disbelief.

"Are you sure?" she questioned.

"Of course, but you have to help Hermione and me find our dresses." I giggled and thus began the search for the perfect gown.

After around fifteen minutes Hermione picked out her dress. It had about different shades of pink, it had tulle capped sleeves and a sweetheart neckline, the bodice appeared to be made out of a dark pink silk-like material, the skirt was made of multiple layers of chiffon, the outermost layer being a short, light-pink tier, then a darker longer tier, and then the darkest shade was the longest layer. Everything was tied together by a simple dark-pink ribbon bow around the waist. It was beautiful.

Ginny and I spoke in unison "Wow..."

Hermione chuckled at us, "I take that as a yes?"

"Yes!" Ginny practically yelled.

"Most definitely, yes." I smiled at her and right as I said that, the door opened and the light shined a little sparkle and a very specific dress.

"Hold that thought, girls." They gave me a puzzled look and I swiftly walked over to the rack that was holding that dress. I grabbed the wooden hanger and brought the gown back over.

"This one." I had to have this one. This was the perfect dress. It was a deep, emerald green, it was off the shoulder and had a dark beaded bodice, it had a sweetheart neckline and the beading faded into the skirt, the skirt was made of a beautiful dark emerald low-shine satin, it had a fairly full skirt as well. It was so simple yet so elegant and I was obsessed. It was perfect. I held it up for the girls and they both nodded. We went over to an employee of the shop and Hermione paid for her dress and then I paid for Ginny's dress and mine.

We had decided to go and look for shoes at Madame Trione's Formal Footwear, we all split up to find our shoes. I picked out a pretty pair of emerald green velvet stiletto heels, Hermione picked out a pair of strappy silver heels, and Ginny picked out a really cute pair of pink kitten heels.

We had purchased all our things and decided to go for one last butterbeer, we found a cozy little table to sit at while we had our drinks and from across the room, I noticed Harry and Ron talking at their own little table.

I waved at Ron and smiled, he smiled back and waved and when I saw Lavender turn to me I knew it was a mistake. She got up and walked over to our table.

"Can you leave my Won Won alone please?", she asked and her voice sounded so sickly sweet but it was dripping with disgust. My previously happy face contorted into a cringe at her nickname for him.

"I just waved at him...he's my friend. I'm allowed to do that." I raised an eyebrow, sort of testing her.

"Yes, well, it makes me uncomfortable. So please, stop.", she smiled, an obviously fake smile. Godrick, I hated that girl. I looked over to Ron and she was talking his ear off, he looked miserable. If that were me would he be miserable still?

"Oi, Y/N snap out of it, don't let her get your wand in a twist.", Hermione said, muttering the last part.

"I know but...she's just so damn annoying."
