Fire Queen

I am sitting next to my grandma with Bao next to me and uncle Jie next to him, the other side of the table is empty for Lord Zuko and his friends, we are sitting at the head table, while all tribe is sitting around in different tables,

 there are my best friends sitting on the young people's table at the back, I smiled at them, I know Kai and Jiang since as far as I can remember, we grew up together, Kai is non-bender but she doesn't seem to care about it, she is beautiful every boy in the whole tribe is trying to get with her, but she doesn't even let anyone come close, I love her for that,

then there is Jiang he is a strong Fire bender, we train together, now we teach next-generation together, he will probably lead the worries of our tribe once I become the chief,

They smiled back at me, why aren't they coming? Is making everyone wait a royal tradition?,
there they come Fire lord Zuko and Katara seem to be in a heated argument while everyone is silently following them, they stop talking when they were close enough, why are they so angry?

He walked through the crowd toward the head table, we all stood up to show respect, grandma walked on the other side of the table to stand In front of it, "from the People of dragon tribe we welcome you fire lord Zuko, Avatar Aang, and your friends, and we thank you for everything you have done"

"Thank you, I am honored to be here," Lord Zuko said with a smile, you can feel the air get thicker everyone is on edge, everyone is quite aware of what royals are capable of, we have already been through it,

"Come sit" Grandma pointed,

Lord Zuko turned around and looked directly at me, why is he doing that again and again, there are a lot of people in this room why does he have to look me in the eyes every single time, I smiled and nodded my head In respect and he returned the gesture,

In the middle of dinner he asked "So you guys master fire bending?", grandma is sitting in the middle of him and me, but every few minutes I catch him staring at me, he is not even trying to hide it, when he asked that he was looking straight at me like he was only asking me,

"Yes, our culture and traditions are heavily based on fire bending, every fire bender have to get trained to his or her best abilities but not everyone gets to master it" I replied avoiding the real question, that if I was one,

"Ryu is one of our best benders, she even trains others, she was the youngest person to complete her training" My grandma answered his question like she got the real question too,

"That's amazing" Avatar Aang smiled at me, which I returned, everyone was talking expect of Katara, she looks at me from time to time with sad eyes, like she wants to say something but she doesn't,

"Lady Katara are you okay, you are not eating, can I get you something else if you prefer?" I asked,

"No food is delicious, I am just not hungry" She replied with a smile, but a sad one, lord Zuko seem to be angry at her and she seems to return the anger with more anger,

"Well, I have some things to deal with, you kids enjoy, Ryu Bao makes sure our guest have a good time," She said, nodded at lord Zuko and left.

He came and sat next to me taking grandma's seat, I don't like that only chief can sit on this chair, but I know better to ask him to move, he is paying way to much attention to me, I can't lie it makes me uncomfortable,

"I hope our preparations are enough, is there anything more we can do for you?" I asked with as much respect as I can show in my tone,
"No, everything is perfect, you didn't have to do all this" He says after a chuckle, his voice is rough, filled with authority,
