MIRROR EFFECT

AZAZEL's P.O.V

It was a cold night in November.

Mother decided it was time for me to meet her kind; the White Witches.

Happy that I was going to be far away from my monstrosity of a father, I quickly packed up and we left before the sun rose.

Not that we'd notice it.

The clouds were usually dark and gray most of the time so we couldn't always tell when the sun was up.

We traveled for about a day when we made it to her coven where I was introduced to every witch.

The kids there were friendly enough but they'd always make me uncomfortable by asking about the scars that covered almost every inch of my body that I couldn't hide away.

We would be spending a week there so it was going to be tough hanging around kids that couldn't hang out with me without asking about my hideous body.

I never mentioned a thing to my mother but I was being physically bullied by the kids.

They would use their little spells to force me into shifting into my wolf and back into my human form.

And then when I was exhausted, they'd make me play "fetch".

It was humiliating but I got so used to doing as I was told because whenever I disobeyed my father, I'd get punished by him and I assumed the same thing applied to these guys.

So one night, when I decided I couldn't handle it, I left my mother a note saying that I loved her so much and she deserved a better daughter before sneaking out of the little house we were camping in until we went back to the pack.

I remembered seeing a lake on our way here and I knew it was the perfect place to end it all.

No one would try to stop me and no one would care. They wouldn't see ‘the girl with the ugly scars’ anymore so it was going to be fine.

Standing at the edge of the lake, I swam to the deepest part until my head was the only thing submerged in it.

Taking my last deep breath, I sunk into the water, just letting everything go.

I was afraid of many things but dying was never one of them.

I was ready... Actually more than ready for it, and I welcomed it with open arms as the last thing I saw as I kept sinking was the moon shining through the water.

Somehow, I was saved that day.

By a cute tanned boy with beautiful brown eyes and messy dark curly hair.

“What happened?” I had asked him, suddenly feeling cold.

Grabbing a dry shirt from his side, he handed it me.

“You better take that off.” He said simply, turning his back to me as he gave me some privacy to change.

Quickly, I pulled my drenched sweater over my head and replaced it with the shirt.

“I'm done now.” I whispered, suddenly feeling embarrassed, but he didn't turn to face me.

“You know,” he started, “life is something we often take for granted. It isn't wise for you to just give it up.”

Hugging my knees to my chest, I fought the tears that welled up in my eyes, “You wouldn't understand.”

“Really? Try me?” He gave me a side glance and I looked away from him.
