Part twenty four

HOTCH POV

I open my eyes and try to adjust to the lighting, I scan the hospital room I was in and that's when my eyes meet her. Y/n had her attention on her phone and she looked exhausted, her hair was tied in a very lazy bun and her eyes had bags under it and it looked like she had been crying. Still she looked beautiful, I studied her face for a while more before speaking.

Y/N POV

"Hey" Hotch's voice brings me back to reality

"Aaron" I take a deep breath "thank god you are awake. I am so sorry, I should've stayed with you, I should've had your back" a faint smile forms on his lips

"I told you to leave me y/n" he reaches for your hand "you are safe and that is all that matters."

"Hotch" Emily lets go of JJ's arm and practically runs towards her friend "Don't you dare scare us like this again!" you hear some tiny steps and then Jack enters the room with Jessica

"Daddy" the little boy cries out and you feel a warmth spread through you body to see that they are reunited again. Jessica's gaze lowers to the bed and you notice that Aaron was still holding your hand so you gently pull away before anyone else notices.

"I think I'm going to step outside so you guys can talk" you can see Hotch doesn't want you to leave but all of a sudden, his expression changes

"Y/n, did you get any sleep?" everyone is now looking at you so you shake your head "Go home, please. Take some rest I will be fine"

"Are you sure?" he nods, reaching once again for your hand "I think I could use some sleep then. I..." I love you is what you wanted so say "I'll be back later" is what you say instead but you. Can see JJ and Emily looking at you two with their eyebrows raised.

You get home and quickly take off your hospital clothes, putting on one of Aaron's shirts and a pair of sweats. The smell of soup raises in the air so you go to the kitchen and see your mom pouring you a bowl

"I thought you'd be hungry" she says handing it to you, the tension between you is as thick as a brick wall

"I am, thank you" eating your mom's food always made you feel better, no matter what

"Y/n, I'm sorry for what I said" she begins and her eyes are teary "you caught me off guard and I was shocked, you are my little girl and I will always try to protect you. So much that sometimes I forget that you are a grown woman, an FBI agent for god's sake, you don't need protection. You also don't need me to interfere with your decisions, you are smart and mature and if you made a decision, me as your mom that loves you more than anything in this world, will accept it, even if it is a little.... Unconventional" you can't help but smile "If you truly love him sweety I support you 100% and once again I am sorry for saying all those things. I promise you that not a word of that is true, it was just in the spear of the moment." You hug her tight

"I love you mom" of course you were still a little hurt but your mom was everything to you so you decide to forgive her.

You slept for a long time, it was already the next morning when you woke up. You took a shower, got dressed, said goodbye to your mom and headed to the hospital. You arrive there and see Derek getting coffee

"Hey, you're alive" he laughs "I called you like a dozen times princess"

"I'm sorry, I fell dead asleep" he hugs you

"I figured that was the case." He hands you his drink "coffee?" sweet caffeine, you didn't realize how much you needed it until you actually drank it. Morgan and you walked to Hotch's room to see him peacefully asleep, he already looked a lot better, stronger and less pale, you smile at the sight.

In the afternoon Hotch woke up and the rest of the team showed up, you sat on a chair by his bed's side and eventually when no one was looking he would take your hand and draw patterns on it with his fingers. At first you were nervous the team would notice but they were not paying attention, right?

"Hey princess" Derek starts with a tone that made you a little axious "You know what I think is weird?" he has a wicked grin on his face "That your prince charming didn't come to check up on you after what happened" you almost choke and Aaron's face went blank

"Yeah it really is weird" Emily says also smirking

"He came over last night. Plus he.... He called"

"See y/n, I don't think he did" Reid pretends to be in thought

"Are you okay with having an agent who lies to her own team, Hotchner?" JJ is full on laughing when she says that

"Oh, I think he is more than okay with that" Rossi adds

"What is that supposed to mean, Dave?" Hotch ask with a little grin

"What the hell are you guys insinuating" Hotch looks at you and smiles when he sees the absolute panic flashing on your face

"Really?" Prentiss screams seeing what just happened "are you two gonna keep lying to us?"

"I'm not lying to any"

"y/n" Aaron interrupts you, looking deeply into your eyes it's like you two have a silent conversation, he wants to tell them, you feel your heart racing, your legs feel like they might just collapse but you smile and nod as he takes your hand. Your friends just watch the two of you, waiting "I guess there is no point in denying it anymore. Yes y/n and I are together" you see every pair of eyes in the room widen and smiles start flashing on their faces

"But you already knew that didn't you?"

"It's not like you guys went out of the way to hide it" Derek begins "the sneaking around, always rooming together, "accidentally" falling asleep on top of each other on the jet"

"Plus, in North Carolina you practically kissed in front of us" Emily laughs

"And it was a bit odd that both of you started a relationship at the same exact time" Reid adds "besides, Hotch is always smiling when you speak so we figured either you were together or he was sick" everyone laughs

"okay okay, you can stop listing reasons now" you feel your face grow more red by the second

"aw, our baby girl is embarrassed" you hit him "sorry"

"How long has this been going on?" JJ asks and you pause for a second you freeze as you realize that if you count the first time you two slept together in his office the relationship had been going on for almost 8 months

"Well" you smile and Aaron as he squeezes your hand "I would say it's been happening for about 8 months"

"You have been hiding this for more than half a year???" You both nod and Hotch pulls you closer placing a quick peck on your lips, in that moment all the stress from the past couple of day dissolved into the kiss.

A/n: Hotch is alive yay. Ngl I was going to be really mean and ruin them but I decided against it.

Also, I'm thinking the story will end in like 10 chapters tops so lmk it you want me to write something else
