Flashback (part 2)

"We have a new transfer student today, please introduce yourself, my dear," the teacher said ever so politely, a slight smile on her face. I stood beside her, her hand on my shoulder. My eyes wandered in the huge classroom of 50 students, each of the faces; expressionless, eyes boring holes in my head, . Uneasiness. That's what I felt when I looked at all the faces in this room.

Until my eyes landed on a small figure sitting near the window, on the last seat, eyes like crescent moons, a hue of pink on his cheeks, those plump lips curved into a smile that holds the power to illuminate the entire universe.

Unknowingly, I found the corner of my lips twitching into a small smile, getting the courage, feeling my nerves calm down. "Hi, I'm Cathy Patterson. Please take care of me" I huffed out, looking at none other than that face that was shining brightly in the dull place. Smiling at me, as if I had accomplished something impossible.

"Very well Cathy, you may take one of the empty seats" The teacher's voice tore my gaze towards her before once again wandering in the classroom. The seats near him were taken...I probably had to sit on the other side of the classroom. As if sensing what's going in my head, his eyes darted to the empty seats at the other side, away from him.

His lips turning down in a frown. He looked at me, forehead creased. I stepped up to the teacher before speaking in a low voice, "If you don't mind Ms. Lee... I would like to sit near the windows". She looked down at me, "Why, you have a problem?"

"I get suffocated easily" It wasn't a complete lie, I do get suffocated in small places.

"Okay then, where would you like to sit?" she asked. "The second-last seat" I mumbled.

"Suho, would you like to trade your seats with Cathy?"

"Sure Ms. Lee"

I quietly made my way towards my seat, looking down, I sat taking out my books when I heard, "Glad my friend is near me" I turned back, his eyes turned a bit wide due to my sudden action before a shy smile crept unto his face. "I wanted to sit near you Jimin"

"Okay class, let's start with this month's syllabus"

******

"That's it for today, don't forget to complete the assignments, I'll be expecting them soon"

I keep my books back in my bag and proceeded towards the door, out on the hallway to get to my locker. "CATHY!" I heard someone shout. I kept walking, "CATHY!" after the second shout I realized they were calling my name, that my name wasn't Y/n but Cathy.

I whipped my head towards the voice, to see Jimin running towards me, I stopped and let him approach me, he halted in front of me panting, his hands on his now bent knees. "Woah...you pretty much ditched me." He said after regaining his breath.

Right...I forgot I have a friend now. My first friend.

"Sorry Jimin," I said apologetically.

"No worries!" his face automatically lit up, "You dropped this on your way" He handed me my time table.

I mentally facepalmed, what a GREAT start...

"Thanks, I'm sorry again you had to run all the way here"

"It's okay! Plus we got the same classes"

"Oh really?!" a smile spread across my face.

"Yup!"

He took out his broken glasses, placing them at the bridge of his nose.

Wouldn't it be difficult to see through those cracked lenses?

I took out a pair of glasses from my bag along with the case.

"Here" I handed him the box.

"Huh?" He tilted his head, confused.

"It's a pair of spectacles, I figured you don't have those super magnifying glasses, we're basically the same number"

"What? No, I can't have these, these are yours"

"Seeing through those broken lenses, you won't be able to see anything"

"That's not true, I can see perfectly!"

"Oh, then tell me what time is it" I pointed at the wall clock.

"10:52?" He said squinting his eyes.

"Test failed, you're taking these"

"No! These are yours!"

"I have one pair right here on my nose", I pointed at my glasses.

"Still..."

"Trust me everything I have, has a spare thing," I said vaguely.

"Like?"

"Everything I have sort of has another copy of it"

"I don't believe you" he crossed his arms in front of his chest.

"You bet" I challenged.

"Okay, pencil case?" he demanded.

I took out the cases mom has put for me. His eyes widened, "Water bottle?"

They are two, trust me.

"Lunchbox?" Jimin's eyes were practically bulging out of his sockets, only if he knew the reason why my mom did so. I took out the two lunchboxes she packed for me.

Jimin sighed, "Okay, you won"

"Then you're taking these"

"Fine" He took the case, taking out the glasses and putting them on.

"Thanks..." he muttered

"Not a problem Jimin"

I shoved the books into my locker, taking out some other ones. As I was zipping up my bag the bell rang, I and Jimin looked up at the clock in the hallway. "Let's get there!" Jimin said taking my wrist in his hand, dragging me along with him.

I looked down at his grip on my wrist, his hand was securely wrapped around mine, refusing to let go, "We don't want to be late, do we?" he asked turning around, his bright smile still plastered on his face.

"No" I mumbled incoherently, looking at the back of his head.

I'm not allowed to do this...I should not be doing this. I'm disobeying my mother...for the first time, because of this boy, I could've refused, I could've told him to go away...But I just can't. I-I don't want to see that smile disappearing. I don't want to see those eyes filled with tears again. I don't want to see that lovely face bruised again. But most importantly-

I looked down at his fingers wrapped around my wrist again, clasping mine and his hands together.

I don't want to let go of this hand while I'm here.
