Y/n's POV:

"So you're forcing me to move across the country? Again? Like do I not get a say in my own life?"
"You're not 18 yet Y/n so no, no you don't get a say in where you'll be residing"

I rolled my eyes with a huff, throwing myself back into the seat.

"So you're making me move back to California?" She nodded, her eyes fixated on the road.

"But why? I can literally stay with Austin"
"Austin is leaving back to Vancouver in a few days to finish filming season two of that stupid vampire show. He won't be finished until the end of your school year anyway. But my decision is final"

"But school- it's the beginning of the year and I want to finish off high school with all my friends. I've known them since I was kid, you can't just drag me away from my life"
"You're being completely unreasonable"

"Enough Y/n. One more word from your mouth and you won't have a phone"

"Whatever" I mumbled, turning to face the opposite side. I stared out the window, watching the dead grass on the hills as we passed by them.

After 15 seconds, I got bored and pulled out my phone to play games and text my friends the news about me moving.

-

The car began to slow down as she pulled into the driveway of what I'm assuming was her home. It was a semi-modern 2-Story house. The garage was open and packed to the ceiling with boxes of their things.

A dark-skinned boy with a buzzcut, red basketball shorts and a white tank top came out from the front door and walked over to the car.

"Hey mom" He said with a smile, opening her door and giving me a small wave which I returned.
"Hi Sweetie, how are the girls?"
"Iris is asleep on the couch and Ry is eating nuggets, watching something on Netflix. Neither of the lazy asses wanted to help move the boxes inside"

She nodded and he walked off to the garage, grabbing another box to take inside. She waited until he was inside to turn around and motion for me to get out. I unbuckled my seatbelt and opened the car door, stepping out into the intense heat.

I walked over to her and she smiled.

She pulled me in for a hug, wrapping her arms around me tightly as I just stood there, "I promise you'll have fun here"
"Now hurry up and grab your things from the car and take them to your room while I start dinner"

The dark-skinned boy walked over to me with his hand out and a smile on his face.

"I'm Jax by the way"
"Y/n" I said shaking his hand.

Looking at him up close like this, I realized he had similar facial features as my father. The same nose, eye shape, and smile.

God I miss him.

"I'm assuming you're the one who lived with Dickson?"

When I nodded his smile only grew.

"Sorry for acting weird and smiling so much, I'm just finally glad to have someone the age as me. The girls are too much to handle and mom is usually busy so I'm by myself"

Mom?

"Anyway, I'll just help you with your stuff and show you to your room" He grabbed two boxes full of my clothes with ease, putting them on his shoulders as he walked. I grabbed one and struggled to keep up with him when we went upstairs.

As soon as I made it up the wooden steps, I dropped the box and hunched over to catch my breath. When I regained it after a bit, I stood up and walked inside of my new bare room, Jax close behind.

I walked in further, my gaze fixated on the walk in closet.

"She said this room was strictly off limits just in case you ever wanted to come over during summer"
"She even made sure it was one of the master bedrooms if you couldn't tell"

I turned around and grabbed the three boxes, bringing them inside.

"Thanks, I can get the rest of my stuff by the way. You've got enough on your plate with all of those boxes in the garage. I'll help you when I'm done"

I spent the rest of the day setting up my closet, my bed, and my tv before it got dark and dinner was ready. After my name was called by my mother, I headed downstairs and into the dining room.

"Spaghetti and garlic bread?" My mom asked with a smile, setting the plate down in front of the empty seat that I assumed was mine. I nodded, trying my best to reciprocate her smile although I was exhausted.

-

The next morning I was woken up at 7:30 by my little sisters screaming and running across the hall. I took the pillow from beneath my head and put it over my face, groaning.

The screaming was then followed by a knock from Jax, then one from my mother no less than 2 minutes after.

Against my will, I got out of bed and sleepily walked out to the kitchen where everyone was.

"Why aren't you dressed? You've got school in about 30 minutes"
"School? I've been here for less than 24 hours and you already enrolled me somewhere else?"

My mother nodded as she drank her coffee, occasionally fixing her glasses as she did so.

I huffed then turned back around and went back upstairs to get ready.

-

"You almost done? We're gonna be late" Jax asked from the other side of my bedroom door.
"Y-Yeah, I'm just putting my shoes on"

I slipped on my white Air Forces and made sure I was tucked properly before opening my door. We rushed downstairs and out to his Mustang.

The school wasn't that far from the house, a simple 10 minute drive. When we pulled up, a large amount of students were entering as well. Jax greeted his friends and I walked to the front office where they gave me a schedule and a locker number as well as a combination.

After about 10 minutes of searching, I managed to find my locker but I couldn't figure out how to do the lock itself.

"Need help?"

I looked up from the lock, turning my head to the right to see a brunette with beautiful hazel eyes, no taller than 5'4 walking toward me.

"Yeah, that'd be great" I handed her the paper with the combination and within seconds she had unlocked it.
"I'm Y/n" I said holding my hand out.
"Violet"
