Ariana's POV:

On the way back to our seats on the bleachers, Y/N was completely silent, the exact opposite she was on the way over here.

As we went up the steps, Y/N following behind me, I almost ate shit by missing one of the steps.

Y/N didn't even give me a giggle, she remained silent, until Violet showed up.

I continued my way to our seats but Y/N chose to stay back and hang with Violet for the remainder of halftime. I watched Violet take some of Y/N's nachos and they began laughing together after Y/N smacked her hand.

The way Violet looked at Y/N was something I craved. She stared at her as if she was the most beautiful thing she's ever seen and I've never been more jealous of that.

I want that.

Just as the break came to an end, Y/N leaned down a softly kissed Violet's lips with a smile. Before Y/N could walk away, V kissed her cheek and waved to the both of us with a smile then joined her teammates on the grass.

I sighed, hating the interaction between the two. Y/N walked up the rest of the way and took her seat beside me.

"You have fun?" I asked bitterly, not bothering to hide my jealousy at this point.

"With?"

I turned to face her, realizing she was already staring at me, "Your girlfriend, Violet"
"She's not my girlfriend, we're just friends"

"Friends who kiss?"
She shrugged with a smile, "Occasionally"
"Why? What's going on?"
I shook my head and tossed a M&M into my mouth, "Nothin' just wondering"

A few moments of silence had passed before I remembered something and tapped Y/N's thigh happily.

"I took one of my make-up tests in Math and I got an 84%"

Y/N's mouth curved into a smile, "Congratulations, I would take all the credit because I'm an amazing teacher but-"

I rolled my eyes and she started laughing, "I'm kidding but I really am proud of you for that"
"Thank you, I appreciate it"

About halfway through the 4th quarter of the game, I realized my hand was still on her thigh but she didn't say anything about it so I figured it was okay to keep it there. Plus, her thigh was keeping my hand warm.

My phone had started buzzing just as the coach called for a timeout.

I lifted my hand off of her for a moment to answer the phone call before placing it back, "Hello?"

It was my mom.

"Where the hell are you Ariana?"
"I'm at the football game, I told you"

She quickly became defensive, "No you didn't, I would've remembered"
"Mom, I asked you if I could go and you said yes"

Y/N looked over at me with concern and I shook my head, telling her it's fine.

"I'm on my way to get you, you're grounded for the rest of the week. School and home are the only places you're going"

I sighed, "okay, I'll see you when you get here" and with that, she hung up.

After my phone call with my mom, Y/N realized I was pretty bummed and she tried to cheer me up but it was no use.

"C'mon, I'll walk you to your car" She stood up and held her hand out for me.
"Thank you"

On the walk to the parking lot, Y/N's phone buzzed just as much as mine did.
"You gonna get that?"
She shook her head and continued to walk beside me, "It's fine, I'll check later"

We waited outside for about 15 minutes until my mom showed up. Y/N walked me to my mom's Black Mercedes and opened up the passenger door for me, shutting it after I got in.

She said goodbye to both me and my mom before walking away to Violet who was waiting.

"So who's that?"

I sighed again for the millionth time tonight and watched the future couple interact, "She's just a friend"

Y/N's POV:

My hands rested inside of the pockets of my blue jeans as I walked over to Violet who was waiting for me by the fences.

"I would offer you my jacket but I'm running low on supply" I joked, earning a smile and a light laugh from the girl in front of me.
"It's alright, I'll just steal all of your clothes when I go over"

"When?" I questioned her confidence with that previous statement, only to receive a nod as a confirmation.
"Yes, when I go over to your house"
"I'll believe it when I see it"

Violet rested her hands on my hips for a moment but quickly dropped them when my mom's headlights flashed at us.

I awkwardly got into the passenger seat of the car and got ready to hear an earful from my mother.

After a 15 minute scolding from my mom, we finally made it home. I rushed upstairs to my room and started on the homework that was due at midnight. It didn't take too long to do, just a few paragraphs and some readings from the book we received the other day.

I sat at my desk for a few hours and just started at the street lights and the few cars that passed.

"Y/N" I heard my name being called but everyone inside my house was asleep. When I didn't respond to whoever it was, they started throwing rocks near my window.

I slid open my window and peeked my head out, seeing Ariana doing the same.

"Hey number 3" She whispered, smiling as she did so.

"You grounded?" I asked and she nodded, "The game last night, you?"
"Yeah, the same thing"

We both laughed at each other before I paused, an idea coming to mind.

"Wait, I have an idea. Go to your backyard in 5 minutes"

Ariana tilted her head and furrowed her eyebrows out of confusion, "For what?"
"Just trust me"
