Ariana's POV:

I rushed to gather up everything I brought out last night before my mom realized I wasn't in bed.

Opening up the garage, I folded up the tent and put it back on the top shelf where I found it along with the sleeping bag I planned to use but never did.

The extra snacks were thrown into the pantry and I raced upstairs just in time to miss my mom going downstairs for her morning cup of coffee.

I laid down underneath my blankets and pulled my phone out to check the time, jumping when the door to my bedroom opened and in came my mom.

She spoke softly, as she usually did when she was in a somewhat good mood, "You're up early"

"Yeah, the sun wouldn't let me sleep any longer" I said faking a yawn.

"I randomly got a headache so I'm up" She said rolling her eyes, turning to walk away but I stopped her.

"Wait, Umm, do you think I could go next door to hang out with Y/N?"
She gave me the look, "You're grounded Ariana"

"I know but it's just next door and we have a project together. Please?"

She sighed, nodding her head and I immediately smiled, "Okay but text me because I'm leaving for work in a few hours and I'm gonna lock the doors. You don't have a key"
"Can you make me a copy today? You lost the other one"

She face palmed, recalling the incident of her getting a little too hammered with her friends and throwing the key into the lake for laughs after she asked me to borrow it.

"Yes, I'll make you another copy"
"Thank you"

With a small smile, she nodded and closed the door, leaving me alone to do a celebratory dance in bed.

I hopped out of bed and into the shower, getting dressed then heading over to Y/N's next door.

Y/N's POV:

With my mom's keys, I headed out the door, bumping into Ariana on the way out.

"Hey"
"Hi"

We both stood there awkwardly for a moment before I we began slowly walking to the car.

"Where you headed?"

I swung the keys within my grasp, "Home Depot, I've gotta get paint and some wood for my room"
"Wanna come with me?"
"I would love to" She gave me a side smile and went to the passenger side of the door. I opened it and shut it after she got in.

"You drool when you sleep, I have a dried stain from you" She immediately gasped and smacked my arm which caused the both of us to laugh. I tried to catch a breath of air but instead I kept adding onto it, making my head hurt.

We headed into home-depot, crashing carts into one another before I grabbed a few tubs of white and lilac paint along with some strips of wood. Ariana suggested some sort of hanging lights in my room then went off to grab a few more things before meeting me at the checkout.

"What's all this?" I asked pointing to the cart full of stuff she had after I scanned the last tub of paint.
"I'm gonna make you something but you've gotta pay for it"

A wide grin formed on her face when I remained silent.

"So you want me to pay for all of that so you can do some 'diy' project for my room?" She paused for a moment, thinking about what I had just said before nodding.

"You're insane"

She agreed, laughing as she scanned everything inside of her cart. The total came to $102.33 after adding a bag of Cheetos. I shook my head then swiped my card, throwing away the receipt so I didn't cry when I saw my remaining balance.

I pushed the cart of bags out of the store and back to the parking lot beside the car,"I'm never taking you shopping with me again" She laughed loudly in response, "Oh please, this is the most fun you've ever had shopping" with an eye roll, she smiled and got into the passenger seat.

I stood in disbelief of this girl before putting the supplies in the backseat.

"So what's the goal with this...disaster"

I turned around to see Ariana with her hands resting on her hips.

"My room isn't that bad"

Silence filled the room after she pointed to the wall that lacked consistent paint. The majority of the top half was semi-peeled with the other not matching a single panel. Each wooden panel managed to be a different shade of white than the next.

"Whatever just start on that wall and I'll start by the closet"

Halfway through the walls being painted, the can of white we were using was running low so I asked her to open up the other.

I did the last brush above my closet doors just as Ariana opened up the can. Bits of paint had splattered across the back of my clothes and on a few spots in my hair.

Turning around I was met with an equally apologetic and humorous Ariana.

"You little—"

She began pleading and laughing while I charged at her, flicking paint on her to match myself. I had chased her around my room, getting paint all over the places it wasn't supposed to be including my bed sheets.

We settled down after the both of us were covered in paint, mainly on our faces and hair. We stood near each other breathless, neither moving from our spots until Ariana leaned over to my dresser to grab my old Polaroid camera.

She gave me a small smile before turning around and snapping a photo when we both smiled.

"I'm keeping this" The photo was pushed out and she grabbed it, turning it to show what it looked like.
My smile had only grew at the sight of us cheeks smushed together with grins.

It was cute.

We were too caught up and I lost track of time until my alarm went off, reminding me of my plans for the night. I'm grounded but my mom let me off the hook to go out for a little if I agreed to double the punishment if I didn't make it back before curfew.

"I've gotta get ready, I'm sorry"

She insisted that it was okay and getting late so she could use it as an excuse to head back.

"Just text me when you're home so I know you're okay" with another smile she turned to walk out until we both realized we hadn't exchanged numbers.

I handed her my phone and she quickly typed her number in, saving it under 'gusher:)' the proceeded to throw a pack of strawberry gushers at my face before walking out.

Ariana and my mother exchanged 'hi's' and 'hellos' before the front door shut. When I turned to head to the bathroom for a shower, my mom had walked into my room and took notice of the new paint on both my face and the walls.

"So which one are you dating? Violet or Ariana?"

I rolled my eyes and grabbed my things from the drawers in front of me, "I'm dating neither"
"You should, they're both good for you although I'd prefer Ariana"

"Ariana and I are just friends"

She wasn't convinced, I could tell by her stupid laugh she always did when she didn't believe what I was saying.
