Y/N's POV:

I shut the door, leaning my back against it while I tried to catch my breath and gather my thoughts.

I just kissed Ariana.

Why did I just kiss Ariana?

I paced my room.

For the first time since it happened, I was alone with my thoughts and everything and anything hit all at once. From my father's death to my current feelings, it all hit.

I rushed up to my room and shut the door softly, locking it before sitting on the ground with my back against the wood. Tears streamed down my face regardless of how hard I tried to fight it.

I was finally grieving.

Hours had passed and the tears had finally dried but I remained still, staring at my bed post in silence.

It was nearly 5 AM by now and I didn't have the energy to move or even try to.

The sun hadn't came up but it was starting to and reality had set in. I was on spring break which meant I had nothing to distract from me letting my father's death completely control me anymore.

Time seemed to have passed by faster than I realized because soon my mom was knocking on my door and calling me for breakfast.

"Okay" I said just loud enough for her to hear on the other side of the door before I sulked further.

I lacked an appetite but I didn't want anybody to know so I sucked it up and pulled myself off the ground. I threw on a shirt from my closet and went to brush my teeth in my bathroom.

I stared in the mirror for a bit, hoping the puffy red eyes and tear-stained cheeks weren't a dead giveaway.

I headed downstairs, passing by my younger sister's room on the way.

Jax was already seated with his plate, waiting for everyone else to join him at the table before he took a bite.

"Hey Y/N" Jax greeted with a smile as I served myself some eggs, potatoes, and a single slice of bread.

I silently nodded toward him and he knew, it was obvious that he wanted to ask about it but he put everything together.

"A few of us are going out to the lake in a few hours, you wanna come with? It'll be good to get out of the house"

"Jax—" I started but he quickly cut me off.

"I know but you seem miserable"

I took my seat beside him and set the plate down in front of me, gathering some crispy potatoes on my work despite feeling sick.

"I'm fine" I said with my best upbeat voice but it was clear he wasn't buying it.

"I heard you crying last night.."

I dropped my fork and moved to hold my face within my hands. He quickly stood up and rubbed my back comfortingly.

"He's gone, he's actually gone" I said through tears, choking up at the thoughts that flooded my head.

Ariana's POV:

Courtney and Victoria had blown up my phone the entire morning until I finally answered.

They insisted that I get ready within the hour but refused to tell me what we're doing or where we're going.

Shorts, slip-ons and a t-shirt seemed like the best option considering it was 90 outside and wasn't even noon yet.

I packed a two-piece and a towel along with some sunscreen in a bag just in case we went to the beach or anything along those lines.

I was in the middle of putting my hair up when I heard excessive honking coming from outside my window.
