Kara was deliberately avoiding Lena. She knew confrontations and confessions were in order after they caught Lex.

Lena was the forefront of that operation. Brainy was still recovering from his fight against the immortals. He was helping. But it was going to take him a long time to come back to his old, healthy self.

When they finally caught Lex, Lena was standing right outside the door as she saw Supergirl exposing his reality. He was handcuffed and put in a police van while Lena saw the shadow of that vehicle disappear in the night.

In a few seconds, Supergirl was standing beside her.

"Thanks a lot for helping us."

She decided to say. Even though the emotion seemed very genuine, her voice was nothing like the person Lena once knew. She just nodded and decided to stay quiet.

In a few moments, Nia was standing there, right beside Kara.

"Come on Supergirl, this calls for a huge celebration."

A big 'Yes' echoed and Kara smiled at them and followed. She turned around to look at Lena. She was considering whether to invite the woman or not. Lena was looking at her too.

'It's too soon'

The girl of steel thought to herself and left.

To say that she was hurt was a huge understatement. She thought they were doing good. They were exploring a new normal. But of course, she was wrong. Again.

She pulled out her phone and called her driver.

In a few moments, she was in her apartment. She was more than done with all of them. If they didn't want her, she didn't want them. She knew that she was through with them.

'I won't be an unwanted burden. Not anymore.'

She promised herself and pulled out a bottle of scotch. Like a robot. It was her routine for a very long time. Every time something bad happened, or she was feeling alone, scotch was the only friend she needed (she had).

Days became a week, the week became a month. There was no sign of any of her "Friends". National City was also a little quieter. She only saw Supergirl twice or thrice stopping a bank robbery or rescuing someone's cat from the tree.

There was no time to wallow. It occurred to her that if she keeps on working day and night, keeping her mind busy she can avoid thinking about the things that made her question every choice she ever made.

She took up more projects than ever. Every day she was working till 4 to 5 in the morning perfecting their applications. Trying to wipe out her family's sins all over again.

Her routine was annihilating boundaries between day and night. It was in her best interest she thought. Living out of her lab, getting out only for a few meetings, having minimal human contact. She even told her assistant not to disturb her in any circumstances.

After 3 days she finally perfected the first stage of her new sustainable energy project. If this was to be successful, the problem of electricity shortage in rural areas would be solved to a great extent.

She was exhausted. Working this much finally caught up and she entered her office with a huge sigh.

Jess was standing right there. Maybe waiting for her.

"What is it, Jess?"

"Mr Luthor, he…"

Instead of saying it, she switched on the TV.
