Love is strange

She was standing alone on her balcony looking at the streak of blue and red that just left her behind.

"Forgive me or not that's your choice, just like it's your choice to work with Lex. I'm done blaming myself for your bad decisions."

"Then why are you here?"

"To tell you that from now on you are accountable for your own actions. If you decide to forgive me I will be there for you. If you continue to work with Lex, if you go through whatever it is the two of you are planning, I will do everything in my power to stop you, just like I would any other villain."

It was haunting her mind. The last line that she decided to drop in.

'Just like she would any other villain, which means I am already a villain to her.' Lena thought to herself when the voice of kettle brought her out of her thoughts.

She had a long day. Working on Non-Nocere was hard enough without Lex following her every move.

She was just going to sit on her couch in her maroon sweater, drinking her hot tea.

But just then the Super dropped in her balcony with the "villain" bomb.

She emptied the kettle in the sink and pulled out a bottle of scotch.

'I guess it's just you and me today.'

She said and started drinking. But as soon as the alcohol started to fill her bloodstream the Super's words got more and more clear in her mind.

The brunette looked at a photo of her and Kara taken on last year's Thanksgiving eve. It was placed on the refrigerator with a cupcake magnet which Kara insisted on buying because apparently, her fridge was "too plain".

Her thoughts wandered off to that night. Lena was cooking something when Kara's eyes wandered off to the refrigerator.

"Why is your refrigerator like that?"

"Like what? You don't like the model? But it's the latest one. Do you think I should change…"

"You always blame me for rambling, but you are no better. I was saying it's too plain."

"What does that even mean?"

"You should have a few magnets on the fridge. Let me order them for you."

Kara said and pulled out her phone to order some from Amazon. They came in order a few days later and Lena could see the childlike excitement on Kara's face when she saw those magnets on her fridge.

She took one more swig out of the bottle and looked at the photo.

'Why is it so hard to just let you go? I should've left the town the day I got to know. But no. I wanted you to feel the same pain I felt.

Then why did my heart broke when I saw you trapped inside that ice? And if it did what stopped me from letting you go?

Don't smile like that. You know I can't stay mad at you if you look at me like that.'

She felt her cheeks getting wet and wiped them with her sleeves.

'Your whole speech was great even without the "will treat you like a villain" by the way. Didn't need to say that. I am not a villain. I am not.

And I am crying again because I miss you, but apparently, you needed my help to save the world and then you conveniently forgot that my maniac brother who I killed came back and was manipulating me.

I am not a villain. I am not a villain.'

She chanted that line until she went to her bed and fell asleep.
