She was looking at the skyline of National City from the window of her lavish office. It calmed her nerves. But today she wasn't looking for calm particularly. She was just trying to calm her emotions down to a level where she couldn't feel them anymore. She wanted to become numb.

Leviathan ended or was stopped for now. Lex was killed again. That meant the mission ended and as Lena thought of it, so does her need. She hasn't got time to reflect on the events of the past year, but now that she has all the time in the world she realised too many things altogether.

She messed up, pretty bad. Even though Kara forgave her, they were never going to be their past selves, she realised that the people she called her friends were avoiding her, she realised that no matter how hard she tried, she'll always be an outsider.

She had already downed three glasses of scotch and was on her fourth when a voice startled her.

"Jess, I'm pretty sure I don't have any appointments right now."

"I'm pretty sure 11 in the morning isn't the best time to start drinking, Ms Luthor."

That voice was far too familiar for her liking. She turned around to reveal a throwback from the past.

Flashback:

Lena was standing in a corner of the playground, clutching her teddy bear looking at the others playing. They never let her play with them. She always used to stand far away and watch others.

Lex used to play with her, but he wasn't allowed to waste a lot of time on someone like her. She was thinking about Lex when she felt a tap on her shoulder.

She flinched and was going to run away, but the hand was firm on her back.

"Why don't you go and play with them?"

The voice of that person was very soothing. She gently turned around to reveal a taller girl wearing hoodie and jeans.

"They don't like me."

The girl smiled warmly at her and offered her a hand to shake.

"They don't like me as well. Want to be my friend?"

"But I don't know you."

"My name is Aiden. What's yours?"

"Lena."

"Well then Lena, now that we know each other wanna play with me?"

Flashback End

Aiden was her oldest friend, she knew Lena since she was 6. They used to do everything together for many years, she was her only friend. Aiden's family matched the status of the Luthors, which made Lillian accept the girl pretty fondly.

"What the hell are you doing here?" Lena's voice was laced with anger.

"Is that a way of welcoming your best friend?" The girl in front of her was calm and composed, like always. Lena always hated how cool-headed the girl was.

"We are not best friends."

"Really Lena? You're still mad at me for something I did, I don't even remember how many years ago."

"You outed me to my whole family, I guess it was a big deal."

"And I apologized a thousand times after that, didn't I?"

"Your apologies meant nothing then, and they certainly don't mean anything now."

"It was an accident and I am pretty sure we both were to blame."
