Broken: Part 2

When her eyes fluttered open and she got adjusted to the illumination in the room she was still on her sofa. Her back was in pain, but she was feeling relieved. 

"Look, Sleeping Beauty woke up without her morning kiss, " Sam said and Lena smiled at her. 

"Thanks."

"For what?"

"For making me take a break and for coming down for me."

"That's what friends are for. On that note, we have a few guests coming in for the evening."

"Who?"

"You know the Super Squad."

Lena's eyes grew wider and wider at the mention. 

"What!? No, no, no. I can't be here. I need to leave. I'll go to L-Corp or anywhere else. I can't-" Lena was rambling with anxiety. 

"Hey, hey! Listen to me. You are not going anywhere."

"But-"

"But nothing. You will be here. All of you need to talk it out." Sam could be pretty persistent when it came to it. It was hard, saying no to her.

"Okay."

"That's like a good girl."

"I'm not your kid, Sam."

"You certainly aren't. She is way more mature than you."

"Hey!" Lena pouted and went to her room huffing about something under her breath.

To say Lena was anxious was the understatement of the century. She was terrified of the outcomes of this night.

"You need to calm down," Sam said looking at Lena pacing around.

"And you need to stop naming Taylor Swift songs every instant you get," Lena answered with a tinge of sarcasm laced in her voice.

Between their banter, there was a knock on the door which made Lena's breath hitch. Sam squeezed her shoulder reassuringly and slipped past her to open the door.

In a few minutes, Lena's large apartment rather seemed small to her. She was bumping into people on her way, making small talks, trying to seem normal by smiling, none of which reached her eyes. 

There she was. Kara Danvers. She started for a moment longer than expected. When Kara turned towards her and their eyes met she immediately broke the eye contact. 

"Who is up for playing some games?" Alex asked from a far corner of the room.

There were simultaneous "Yes"s and "We are in"s from the room. Lena was trying to find an excuse to get out of it. But Sam pulled her towards the couch.

"Lena has Scrabble, Monopoly and for some reason Scotland Yard. Vote?"

Finally, they decided to set on Monopoly. There were teams. Alex and Kelly, Sam and Ruby, Brainy and Nia, J'onn with M'gann, William picked Kara and Lena decided on going alone.

"I can be on your team if you-" Kara was saying but she cut her.

"It's fine. I work better on my own anyway."

She said and hid her hurt once again. She knew Kara would've picked her but she was not ready for that big step right now.

Lena was awfully quiet during the whole game. She lost the very first. Lena Luthor, the owner of L-Corp, a child prodigy Lena Luthor, lost in a game of Monopoly. Sam was looking at her with concern in her eyes.
