Chapter 14: The Demon in the Snow

"Gato? I don't understand. What is all this? Why are you here and who are these thugs you brought with you?" Zabuza asks suspiciously

"Well you see, there's been a change of plans. according to the new plan, you die right here on the bridge, Zabuza. That's right. You're too expensive so I've decided to take you off the payroll. Look at you, you look like a wet kitten." Gato replies

Zabuza looks at Kakashi "Looks like our fight is at an end Kakashi, since I'm no longer in Gato's employ. Tazuna is safe, we have no quarrel"

"Yeah, I suppose you're right" Kakashi agrees

"W-what?" Aika mumbles

Gato walked over to Haku's body and kicked it. Naruto and Aika gasped.

"Get away from him!" Naruto shouts outraged

He dashed towards Gato with Aika following, Kakashi stopped them.

"Zabuza! You gonna let him do that?!" Naruto shouts

"Be quiet you fool, Haku's dead. It doesn't matter" Zabuza looks at the twins

"I-It doesn't matter.." Aika stares at him "How could you say that!"

Zabuza looks surprised

"Haku was with you for years!" Naruto shouts

"Doesn't that mean anything to you?!" Aika's eyes glow red as she thought about Sasuke "He died for you! He protected you!"

"And you're just going to stand there and let him treat him like a dog?!" Naruto shouts angrily

"You don't understand the way of Shinobi. I merely used him as Gato used me. Now it's over. His usefulness is at an end. The loss of his strength and skill he had that means something to me! But the boy, nothing" Zabuza says

"Naruto, Aika, that's enough" Kakashi looks at the two "Calm down. He's not the enemy.. not right now"

"You're wrong!" Aika shouts at Kakashi

"As far as I'm concerned, he's enemy #1!" Naruto agrees then turns to Zabuza "You ungrateful.. after everything he did for you! Haku lived for you!! You were the most important thing in the world to him! And he meant nothing to you?! Nothing at all?! He was sacrificing everything for you! You never felt anything at all for him? And if I became stronger does that mean I'll become heartless like you? He threw his life away and for what?!" Naruto's voice cracked

"For you and your dreams!" Aika continued for him as she put her hand on her brother's shoulder "You never let him have a dream of his own but he didn't care. And you just toss him aside like he was nothing! A broken tool... that's wrong.. so wrong!"

Tears fell from Aika's eyes as they turned back to the same blue color as Naruto's.

"You two.. talk too much" Zabuza was actually crying "Your words cut deep. Deeper than any blade. While he fought you twins, his heart broke in two. Haku always was too soft.. too kind. He felt pain and sorrow. Curse him, I feel them too! And something else. I feel content this so the way it ends. Hey girl.. stop crying and lend me a kunai"

Aika wiped her eyes and threw him a kunai, which he caught with his teeth. Zabuza headed towards the group of men, killing the ones in his way. Some of the men pierced his body with their weapons. Finally, Zabuza slashed Gato back and fourth and pushed him off the bridge. Zabuza then walked towards Haku, stumbling until he fell forwards.

"...Big brother" Aika cried burrying her head into Naruto's chest

"their is pain and sadness in this harsh world we live in Aika" Kakashi spoke "today you might want to cry, but always look forward to what tomorrow might bring"
