Sorry for not updating yesterday, we completely forgot! Better late than never?
I walked up to the leapmaster, Tiergan supporting me and Willa and Kenric on either side. "You guys, I promise I'm fine!" I tried to tell them.
"Isn't that what you said about the headaches that made you pass out and scare us all to death?" asked Willa, her eyebrows raised.
"Yeah, we're not going anywhere." Kenric told me. Great. Now I had three overprotective bodyguards.
"We have to get you home! Your parents don't even know you've manifested!" Tiergan told me, trying to make me less grumbly. Despite my best efforts to stay grumpy, I perked up a bit, excited to tell them the news. Curse Tiergan and his adorable smile.
"Fine," I said, rolling my eyes. We walked up to the leapmaster together, letting the light whisk us away.
~~~
"Ellie!" My mom called as we appeared in front of my house. "Elwin called and said something had happened! Are you okay?" She looked like he'd been waiting there for a while, pacing the courtyard.
"He didn't tell you what happened?" Kenric asked.
"He said Ellie should tell me herself. What is it?" Just as Mom had finished speaking, Dad burst out of the house.
"Ellie! Is she okay? What happened?" He frantically asked her.
"I don't know! She hasn't told me!" I just reached out my mind, looking for my parents'. When I had managed to reach them, I thought at them as hard as I could.
I'm fine. The words came out louder and forced sounding, but I had managed to transmit. It took all my willpower not to do a tiny happy dance.
"You just..." My dad said in shock. He turned to my mom. "Did she just?"
"Surprise!" I told them, too drained to transmit again.
"Ah! This is so exciting!!!" My mom squealed. "We have to celebrate! I can make a big dinner! We have a few hours until dinner though..."
"Foster, why don't we let the kids decide what they want to do until then?" Dad said, giving her a teasing look.
"Yeah, actually, I have something in mind..." I said, thinking back to something I'd been wanting to do with my friends for a while now. "Hear us out..."
"Oh no." My mom said. "That never means anything good."
"It's nothing crazy! I've just been wanting to take Tiergan and Willa to the Forbidden Cities. We'd dress in human clothes and be super safe and speak English and everything, don't worry!" I told them, crossing my fingers.
"Well..." Mom started.
"You took me and Kenric there all the time when we were little! It's always been fine! Besides, we'll be super, super careful!"
"Ellie, I was going to say that I've been thinking of letting you go there more often. I want to show what life was like for me growing up and give you a unique perspective. I also know what it feels like to be sheltered, so I'll let you guys go." We broke into cheers. "But! You have to be back by 5, okay?"
"Yep! Sounds good! I'll go take Willa to my room to change and Kenric will give Tiergan some of his human clothes. Oh! We don't even have to use the crystal, Kenric can teleport us! Sweet!"
"Told you my ability is cooler," Kenric smirked at me.
"Shut up and get dressed."
~~~
"Ellie?" Willa called from inside my closet.
"Yeah?"
"What the heck is a ravenclaw?" I shrieked. Willa had just found one of the items of my extensive Harry Potter collection. My mom had introduced me and Kenric to the series and we'd been obsessed ever since. I was a Ravenclaw and he was a Gryffindor.
"You can't wear that shirt! You're totally a Hufflepuff! You are not going to be seen in public in Ravenclaw merch!"
"What's a Hufflepuff?!" She asked, coming out of the closet and holding my blue shirt up.
"Okay, so there's this thing called Harry Potter. It's a human book series. There's a magic school called Hogwarts and you're sorted into different houses and you learn spells! The series is about a kid named Harry Potter who has to defeat an evil wizard. You'd love it!" I explained, hardly taking the time to breathe.
"Huh. Yeah, maybe I'll borrow the books from you sometime."
"You'd better! In fact, we should get Tiergan into it too! We can read the books and watch the movies and take the sorting hat quiz and-"
"Ellie! You really have to get control over your rambling!" Willa laughed. "Maybe take a second and breathe?"
"Fine." I rolled my eyes. "Anyways, I'll wear that, you can wear some other shirt until we get you Hufflepuff merch."
"Whatever you say,"
~~~
"Are you sure this is a good idea, Ellie? I mean, what if someone finds out who we are?! We could get arrested!" Tiergan told me. We had all gathered by the gates of our house. I had found Willa a light purple shirt and jeans, and Tiergan and Kenric were both wearing some random t-shirts and shorts that looked like they'd been sitting on the floor of Kenric's room for the last decade.
"Come on, it'll be fun! And afterward we have an awesome surprise! Willa helped me think of it!" I grinned.
"I think I'll just stay here. You guys have fun." I frowned. This wasn't going to be half as fun without Tiergan. It was time to pull out my trump card. I moved closer to him and whispered in his ear.
"If you go I promise kisses later," That made him blush bright red and walk over to the group with me. I grabbed Kenric's left hand and Tiergan grabbed mine, leaving Willa to hold Kenric's other hand. Now Tiergan wasn't the only one bright red.
"Okay, now you guys have to run as fast as you can. I've been practicing with Mom, but it helps if you can pull some of your own weight." Kenric explained. "Ready?" We nodded. "Run!"
We took off, channelling energy into our legs. We started to go so fast that it was like Kenric was the only one touching the ground, pulling the rest of us along as we flew through the air, crashing into each other and screaming louder than I knew three teenagers could.
Suddenly, we were in a place full of... nothing. There was no sound or light, just an endless expanse of black. Then Kenric pulled us out of the void, and we fell over in a heap on pavement.
"Ughhhhhhhhhh," Tiergn groaned, trying to wiggle out of the pile of elves we had become.
"Come on, we have to get up before someone sees us," I said, standing and then helping him. Kenric was the nex up, giving a hand to Willa. "Where'd you take us anyways Kenric? I realized we never really decided on where to go."
"Come on, Ellie! I'm your twin! I know exactly where you'd want to go." Kenric said, pointing to a brick building next to us. It was a pretty plain looking building on the outside, but through the door I could see flashes of light. The sign said 'Roller-Magic'
"Kenric, for once in your life you're completely right!" I grinned.
"Of course I am- wait, what do you mean once?!" Willa and I laughed.
"Where are we anyways?" Tiergan asked.
"It's this human thing called rollerskating. You guys will love it!" I told them excitedly. "Basically, you wear shoes with wheels and then roll around."
"Why do I feel like this will end with me in the healing center with a broken neck?" Tiergan asked.
"Oh, come on! It'll be fun!" Willa told him.
"I'll race you to the building, Willa," Kenric smirked at her.
"Oh, you are so on!" She said, and then sprinted to the building with him in tow.
