After school I started to make my way up to the leapmaster to go home, but I was stopped by Willa. She ran up to me, curly red hair flying behind her, a red tint to her freckled cheeks. As she reached me, she tried to stop, but the boots she was wearing didn't stick to the crystal floor and she went tumbling forward, landing in my arms just before she hit the floor.
"Aw, you really can't help but fall for me," I grinned at her. Her formally reddish cheeks now turned a bright tomato-ish shade.
"No! I just slipped!" Willa protested.
"Then why are you still in my arms?" I asked, and she immediately scrambled to her feet, a blushing mess.
"Ugh. Do you want to come over my house or not?"
"We're going to your house today?!" I asked, excited. I loved going to Willa's house. Not only did it mean hanging out at her awesome tree house, but it was also more time that I had Willa to myself.
"Yeah. Remember? Ellie's coming too, we're going to play basequest in the garden!" So much for having her to myself.
"Oh yeah, I had forgotten. Where is Ellie?"
"Already there! She had me find you in case you forgot. Probably a good call." She smirked.
"Hey! Smirking is my thing!" I told her, and she laughed.
"Not anymore!" Then she turned her attention to the leapmaster. "Let's go!"
~~~
I raced after Willa, through the gardens of her house. We were in our second round of basequest, girls against boys. Willa was tearing through the bushes ahead of me, just barely out of reach.
"Get back here!" I yelled.
"Not a chance!" She shouted back. She was now nearing our base, laughing as she sprinted. I needed to win this. I channeled all my energy into my legs, bounding faster than I ever knew I could. I pictured the base tree in my mind, pushing myself faster and faster.
For a second, everything went black. I thought I'd fainted, but the next thing I knew I was jolted back into reality, at the base tree tagging Willa.
"How'd you do that?" She asked in amazement.
"Do what?" I asked her, still not sure what had happened.
"One second you were behind me, and the next you were in front of me and tagging me! It was like you... teleported!" Ellie gasped in amazement. "Kenric, I think you just manifested! You can teleport!" My eyes went wide. Teleporting? Everyone knew about my mom's special ability, how she could jump through the void and land wherever she wanted. Did I... did I have it too?
"Really?"
"How else would you have beaten me? This is insane! I thought you'd be a telepath or empath or something." said Willa, still wide eyed.
"Yeah, me too! This is way cooler!" I laughed. "Guys! Guys, get over here!"
~~~
I collapsed on Willa's hammock, laughing. Ellie had left to tell our parents, and Tiergan had to go home, so we were alone. "I can teleport!"
"Oh, really? I had no idea!" Willa rolled her eyes at me.
"I'm sorry for being excited! OH!!!!!" I suddenly said, realizing something.
"What?"
"I beat Ellie! YES!"
"Beat her?" Willa asked with an adorably confused expression.
"Yeah! We've always wondered who would manifest first! Ellie even wondered if we'd do it at the same time. This is awesome! I'm never letting her live this down!" I exclaimed while Willa rolled her eyes at me.
"Not everything's a competition, you know,"
"You're just mad you haven't manifested," I told her with a smirk. "This is the best day ever!"
"Not the best day," She corrected.
"Huh?"
"The best day ever will be when Tiergan and Ellie finally confess and become the adorable couple we both know they could be,"
"That's it!" I sprang up out of the hammock. "We need to work on another plan. It's been waaaaaaaaay too long. If they were going to confess on their own, they would have done it already."
"Hmmmmmm..." Willa said, grabbing her notebook and pen. I don't know what she had against normal black pens, but I'd never seen Willa use a pen that wasn't some bright, happy color. It was adorable. "There has to be something!"
"Well..." I said, thinking of one of our old plans. "There is something... do you happen to have a few hundred pounds of mistletoe?"
This is the last chapter before we post the Christmas Special on Christmas Eve!!!! Sadly we don't have any art ready, but it will be suuuuuuuuuper long. See you guys then!!!!!
