I glittered into view of Foxfire, a field filled with shimmering pyramids that looked nice on the outside, but were really places of torture for innocent prodigies. Kenric was still suffering the consequences of eating our mallowmelt, so he was still at home being convinced by my parents to come to school so I went off immediately to find Willa.

She wasn't hard to spot. Willa had her mom's gorgeous looks, and even though she tried to down play them with sloppy uniforms and hair she wore straight down her back, never styled, she was still beautiful. I was so basic compared to her, with my long blonde hair and brown eyes.

"Ellie!" She said when I came over. She had a never ending bubbliness and I had rarely seen her without a smile.

"Hey! Just wait until you see Kenirc's hair! You left way too early yesterday morning to see it! It's the best thing EVER!" I squealed.

"I didn't really have a choice! My mom needed me to try on one of the dresses in her new fashion line to see if she got the neckline even." Willa told me with an eye roll. That was my que to gag. "You should've seen it, it was sooooo poofy I couldn't get through doorways!" I had to laugh at this. I tried to imagine it, but it was too strange.

"What classes do you have today?"

"Ummmmm," Willa pulled out her schedule. She was probably the most organized person in the world. "Multispecial Studies with Sir Donwell and The Universe with Sir Jarvin" Willa told me.

"Ugh. I have Lady Galvin. She hates me just because of my mom! And I might have unarranged the jewels on her capes with Kenric. But that's completely beside the point!"

"Mhm." Willa said with an eye roll. "My dad might be able to tutor you in alchemy, you know. He got your mom through the class! Well, sort of. She passed the first semester, right?!"

"Yeah, that's true... I'm going to have to take your dad up on that." I gave in. I didn't want a tutor, but I'd do anything to get through this class.

"Oh, we'd better go quick! We'll be late for orientation!" Together we ran to the center pyramid, laughing as we tried to outrun each other. We just made it as bells chimed in the auditorium and Magnate Leto started speaking. She rambled something about working hard this week, and then announced the people who'd manifested.

When he was finally done, we all filed out into our respective levels, and for Willa and me that meant level two. The bright blue walls of the hallway led to the atrium where we got our books from our lockers and headed our separate ways to class.
