Jake's POV

"Idiot." I said, as I kept my gun down, staring at the dead body which lay in front. Suddenly, I heard someone sobbing behind me. I turned around and saw Diana, curled up into a ball on the floor, crying hard.

"Diana!" I shouted, as I rushed to her to check if everything was alright.

Shit! She saw everything. I should have closed the door after Jay left.

"Diana what happened? Why are you crying?" I asked her, trying to calm her down by patting her back gently. She looked at me, her eyes glistening in tears, as soft sobs left her mouth. She shook her head and shifted, moving away from me, tears still falling down her face.

"Don't come near me. I might hurt you." She said, her voice so small and fragile as if it was made of the most delicate thing ever in this world. My heart broke as I saw her in this condition. I quickly moved towards her, engulfing her into a hug.

"You will not hurt me don't worry." I spoke gently into her ear, as I slightly rocked her to calm her down.

"I won't?" She asked, a bit surprised, as she clutched at my t-shirt as if she was hanging for her dear life. I shook my head slowly.

"But I killed her," She said, after which she broke down sobbing. "I killed my own step mother." She managed to say, while drenching my t-shirt with her tears. "Junie said it was not my fault but whenever I see someone getting shot, her face haunts me." She sobbed loudly, her forehead resting on my chest.

"Hey, stop crying. Didn't hyung say it was not your fault?" I told her, as I shifted and sat down properly on the floor, hugging Diana, trying to stop her from crying further but I failed miserably, as tears continued to pour from her eyes.

"But I pulled the trigger..." She spoke softly into my shoulder so that it was only audible for me.

"Would you like to tell me what happened?" I asked, pulling apart. She looked at me, her brown eyes glistening, her cheeks tear stained, as she nodded slowly.

Diana's POV

I told Jake everything about that night when I killed my step mother.

"....then Junie told my dad exactly what happened but he was too upset to listen anything." I finished, looking down at my trembling hands, as tears fell down on them.

"Do you realise," he said, as he took my hands in his. "Your step mother was teaching you how to hold the gun in a wrong way?" He said, as he looked at me intently. "If you ever held a gun like that, how your step mother taught you and pulled the trigger, the bullet would have hit you instead and your enemy and you would have died." He said, looking at me, his gaze soft, as he spoke gently.

"What?" I whispered, shocked. "I-I never thought of it before-" I said, as my head seemed to spin after listening to what he said.

"I don't know how to say this but, she tried to kill you. That's why Yeonjun hyung says that it is not your fault. She got what she deserved." Jake said, trying to reason with me. I felt myself break into pieces when I heard this.

Even my step mother wanted me dead.

Jake's POV

I saw Diana space out. I placed my hands on her shoulders and gently shook her. Suddenly, she looked at me.

"Am I such a burden that everyone hates me?" She asked, her voice monotonous, as she looked at me with her deep brown eyes, which were glistening, showing me how broken she was on the inside. I shook my head and I was trying to say something but she cut me off.

"Don't. Don't say anything. People just want me dead. You guys should have left me there at Taehwan's place." She said, as she buried her face in her hands. I saw tears trickling down her trembling hands, falling on the ground, making my heart ache for her. I quickly stretched out my hand and hugged her, running my hand up and down her back to calm her down, as she let out her emotions.

"Diana, listen to me. You don't deserve any of this. There are people who care for you, who love you." I spoke softly, as she continued to let out soft cries from her mouth. We sat there for a long time, my hands wrapped around her broken figure. Soon, she cried herself to sleep.

I looked down at her and stared at her face, as she nestled her head in my shoulder and slept. Her cheeks were tear stained and red, her face pale as the experience had drained her energy. I picked her up, as I hung her bow and quiver on my shoulder. I carried her upstairs to her room, and gently laid her down on the bed so that she could sleep peacefully.

Diana's POV

I woke up, to see that I was lying on my bed in my room. I looked out of the window only to realise that it was already evening.

How did I end up here?

I realised that my head was paining slightly. I sat up, as I looked around to see if anyone was there or not. I placed my hands on my forehead, gently massaging it to ease my throbbing temples. I laid down again as I felt really tired to get up and make something for myself, as I knew that hunger was the possible reason for my headache. After some time, I heard footsteps approaching my room.

"Oh, you woke up." Jake said, smiling, as he entered the room. I nodded, as I sat up, pushing away the blanket from me.

"Have this." He said, giving me one of the two apples which he had in his hand. He pushed away the blanket, making place, as he sat down beside me silently.

"How did I end up here?" I asked him, as I saw him take a bite from his fruit.

"You cried yourself to sleep so I picked you up and brought you here. The stuff you picked up from the weapon room is kept there." He said, pointing to one of the corner's of the room. I saw the bow kept and the quiver hanging on a nail on the wall.

"Thank you." I said, as I bit into the apple, it's sweet juice spreading in my mouth, as I chewed on the bite which I had taken.

"Anyways, Sunghoon called. He said they would be late because their first meeting place got compromised so they had to go to another town. They will be back after dinner." He said, as he stared out of the window, watching, as evening sunlight fell on the trees outside, making them brighter. "And Yeonjun hyung called too while you were asleep." He said, turning his head to look at me. "Your dad's allies are keeping an eye on his group. So hyung said that you should stay with us until we find a solution to this." He added, sighing, as he looked down at the floor.

"What is the solution for this?" I asked him, the apple in my hand suddenly feeling heavy.

"One is that we can wait until your dad gives up on you and stops finding you." He said, taking another bite of the fruit in his hand, chewing on it.

"The other one?" I asked him, even though I knew what was the other option. Jake sighed, shrugging his shoulders.

"The other one is we wait for the right time and then attack."
