Today is the day of the first task. It's been a week since the quidditch game and the team passed their tests, so I kept my promise. I canceled all practices until after the first task.
"You ready?" Cedric asks me
I look at him and roll my eyes.
"I get to fight a dragon, heck yeah" I say as dumbledore walks into the tent with Barty Crouch and Ludo Bagman.
We all stand in a circle and we have to select our dragons from a small pouch. Viktor goes first and gets the chinese fireball, Fleur gets the Common welsh green, Cedric gets the Swedish short snout. Leaving me and Harry with the Hungarian horntail.
"Mr Diggory, at the sound of the cannon you will begin your first task" Dumbledore says as the cannon goes off.
"Good luck Cedric" I tell him before he walks out
For three hours Harry and I walked around the tent talking about what we should do.
"I can lead it away while you grab the egg" Harry argues for the four hundredth time
"Or we can use the sleeping charm like Charlie suggested" I say exhausted
"You talked to Charlie Weasley?" Harry asks
"Yeah about the dragons, he said he personally would use a sleeping spell, So lets do it" I say
The cannon sounds for the fourth time and Harry Jumps. He follows me out of the tent and through the tunnel and into the stadium where the dragon is chained to a giant boulder.
"You take left, I'll take right?" I ask excited
Harry nods and creeps around the side of the boulder stumbling as I carefully place each step trying not to get it's attention Harry trips and falls again, I laugh a little and He stands up and takes a few steps towards me, We can see the chains bending getting ready to break, The chains snap and Harry Panics. The dragon swings it's tale around send me flying backwards
"Well done Dragon" Fred and George yell
"Accio Firebolt" He says backing up and grabbing the broom that flew to him
I wait for harry to get a few feet in the air before I jump on the boulder and cast the sleeping charm, like Charlie said. In a few seconds the dragon is asleep on the ground curled up on the rock. Harry flies down and stands next to me.
"It's kinda cute, dangerous. But cute" I say carefully placing my hand between the dragons eyes and petting it.
"Grab the egg and let's go, it'll wake up soon" Harry says nervously
"Not it Harry, She" I correct him
"What ever let's go. Grab the egg" He tells me
I roll my eyes and walk over to pick up the egg before stopping in front of the dragon again.
"And the potters retrieve the egg in a recorded ten minutes. We award them second place" Dumbledore says
Harry walks through the tunnel leaving me and the dragon. I hear footsteps behind me and I turn my head to look.
"Beautiful aren't they?" Charlie asks removing the sleeping spell I cast on it.
I take a step back watching for a second before reaching my hand out to touch her again.
"Do you name them at all?" I ask letting the dragon smell me almost like a dog would.
Charlie smiles at me and then at the dragon.
