With a soft groan, Makoto's eyes began to flutter open as she gained her consciousness. She found herself staring at a ceiling rather than an open sky. Remembering what happened before she passed out, she quickly sat up to scan her surroundings.

On the others side of the room laid a sleeping Eren with Mikasa by his side. Mikasa spared a glance at the hybrid before turning to face Eren once more. Feeling a soft weight on her hand, she looked down to see Historia asleep sitting by her bed while holding her hand. At the end of bed, Ymir was sleeping while leaning against the wall.

Her heart was filled with relief seeing the two women still here with her. Using her other hand, she reached over and began to gently pet the sleeping blonde to which she began to smile in her sleep. Makoto couldn't help but wonder what was going to happen next. After the intimate moment at Utgard Castle and the confession, what comes next?

"Thank you. For putting Eren before you." Mikasa spoke up, catching the other woman's attention. Makoto stared at her for while before admitting, "I didn't do it for Eren. I did it for Ymir and Christa."

Nothing else was said between them after that and the room remained silent until Armin and Jean came into the room.

"Makoto, you're awake!" Armin chirped happily, waking up everyone else in the room.

"Ugh... Who the hell is this happy?" Ymir woke up grumbling and saw Armin, "That explains it." Her gaze turned to Makoto, her eyes widen and her cheeks flushing slightly. "Ma-Makoto, you're up. How are you feeling?" She said as she walked over to her side then sat down on the edge of the bed.

"I still feel drained," Makoto sighed, her body extremely sore. Historia rubbed her eyes as she let out a small yawn. Her soft blue eyes met Makoto's gray ones, making Makoto's heart flutter a bit.

"Christa and I did our best to patch you up. You had scorch marks on you as a result from the lightning you emitted." Ymir informed.

Armin and Jean had went to talk to Eren while Makoto spoke with Historia and Ymir. "Did you guys know what happened? It all felt like a blur to me.." Makoto sighed, trying to suppress a yawn.

"I'm pretty sure you made a titan kill itself. Whatever you did, it took a huge toll on your body. You passed out right after and the lighting caused harm to you as well. The howl you let out caused the titan to go into excruciating pain, I guess it was so bad that it snapped its own neck." Ymir explained.

Processing everything Ymir had said, Makoto concluded with, "That's awesome..."

Historia gently patted her hand and gave a nervous laugh. "I wouldn't say it's awesome, you got hurt during the process."

Shrugging it off, Makoto yawned loudly as she can feel herself grow tired again. "Let's leave Eren and Makoto to rest. They've dealt with a lot." Armin suggested. Everyone began to head for the door, not before Ymir and Historia placed a kiss on Makoto's forehead.

The hybrid's cheeks flushed as her wolf ears press against her head embarrassed. Ymir couldn't help but smirk and snicker at how cute she looked while Historia giggled and smiled. Mikasa, being the last person to leave the room, gave Makoto one last look.

For a moment, Mikasa's eyes grew soft as she watched the flustered woman try to calm herself down. Mikasa almost wished it was her that made her flustered. Shaking her thoughts away, she left the room, closing the door behind her.

Makoto laid back down, sighing as she closed her eyes.

"Um... hey Makoto?" Eren spoke up softly, getting a hum in response. "You wouldn't do what Reiner and Bertholdt did... would you?" Silence followed his question until a dark chuckle came from Makoto.

"Depends. As long as no one gets on my bad side." Makoto said, her tone was ominous which left Eren worrying.

-

Makoto woke up the next day feeling better. Her scorch marks were completely healed and her body felt energized. The only thing that bothered her was the fact that Hanji was following her around like a dog following its master.

"I don't understand why you have to be here." Makoto said, feeling her patience wear thin. Having her follow her around and take notes, it reminded her of when Hanji would take notes off to the side whenever she was being tortured.

"I have to make sure you're okay. We don't know yet if your new ability did any affects to you on the inside." Hanji explained. "If you're so worried then why don't you go monitor your precious Eren? He has a new ability too." Makoto snapped as she turned around to come face to face with the commander.

Their faces were inches apart, Hanji can almost feel the intensity behind the younger woman's eyes. She swallowed and can feel her heart hammer against her rib cage. She remembered when she first saw Makoto at 16. The girl was already pretty tall for age and toned. But as she grew up, Makoto grew an inch taller and got more muscular.

The older woman couldn't help but glance away and hold the clipboard in front of her face to hide her red cheeks. Makoto raised an eyebrow confused at her actions but didn't try to question it. "Whatever. Just don't get in my way." Makoto scoffed and continued walking, allowing Hanji to follow her around despite her complaints.

She was on her way to check up on Nanaba. Remembering how she threw her life on the line to protect the recruits. Makoto shuttered slightly at the memory of Nanaba's fearful cries about her father. Arriving at the door, Makoto gently knocked on the door before entering.

She saw Nanaba sitting on a chair, facing the window while staring off into the distance. She walked closer but stopped herself when she got close enough to see Nanaba's missing leg. She felt her heart drop at the missing limb. Composing herself, she continued to make her way over then kneeled down beside Nanaba's chair. Hanji decided to stay by the door of the room, allowing them to have their moment.

Glancing up, Nanaba's eyes were filled with mixed emotions. "I'm sorry I didn't act sooner. If I acted faster or if I was stronger.. You wouldn't be in this position." Makoto apologized, lowering her head. She could feel her gaze on her now, shifting a bit nervously.

Suddenly she felt a hand being placed on her head. "You saved my life, Makoto. You did more than enough..." Her soft voice spoke, allowing Makoto's muscles to relax. "You could have left me to die but you didn't. Thank you."

"I would never do that. I'm sorry about how I pushed you away. I thought about what you said back at Utgard." Makoto said. As much as she held onto the spite of humans taking away her happiness, what Nanaba said made her think. Certain humans such as Nanaba and Historia has shown nothing but kindness to her. Even Sasha has shown her kindness that Makoto didn't expect from humans. There were times Sasha would actually share half of her food rather than a small portion with Makoto. And Makoto knew how important food was to Sasha.

"You're still an idiot for risking your life like that." Makoto grumbled, flattening her ears stubbornly. The blonde couldn't help but chuckle and pet the hybrid's head, "I'm sorry."

Makoto's cheeks huffed slightly before her tone grew serious, "What happens now?"

Nanaba stopped her petting and she sighed, "I most likely will have to retire. Which is not so bad I guess. I'll still be dropping by to check up on you and the others though." Nanaba allowed a smile to appear on her face and moved her hand to Makoto's shoulder. "I won't be around as much but remember what I said okay? Whatever you do, you'll have people who support you."

Taking in her words, Makoto nodded and looked up at her. Just as Makoto was about to speak, Ymir barges into the room panting. Ears perked up, Makoto turned her head to look at her. "Ymir? What's wrong?" Leaving Nanaba's side to check on Ymir.

"Ma-Makoto..." Ymir panted heavily.

"Your sister... She went into the forest... She found Annie and brought her back."
